My First Place Ottawa has finally launched its supported employment program! 🥳 Our program is called the FlexAbility Employment Network and we connect adults with developmental disabilities to paid employment opportunities throughout Ottawa.

We provide:
✅ Flexible shifts
✅ Paid work
✅ Job coaching and workplace support
✅ Skills training
✅ Opportunities to build confidence and independence

Potential work settings include hotels, grocery stores, retirement homes, municipal buildings, and community organizations.

Whether you’re looking for your first job or want to gain new experience, we’d love to hear from you.

What happens when school ends?

For many families of adults with developmental disabilities, the transition into adulthood can feel uncertain and overwhelming. Too often, meaningful opportunities, structure, and social connection become limited after aging out of the school system.

That’s why we created My First Place Ottawa.

Located in Orléans’ Avalon community, our supportive day program helps adults with developmental disabilities build confidence, independence, workplace readiness, and real-life skills in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

From interactive activities and community outings to our simulated café experience, participants gain hands-on experience while building friendships, routine, and purpose.
