We congratulate A Place Called Home for being one of the finalists in the category of "Not-For-Profit of the Year" for the upcoming April 25th Awards of Excellence.
APCH helps people who find themselves homeless get back on their feet so they are able to move forward and obtain a stable residence. Living in crisis is very stressful and once a resident has found a way through that, their mental and physical health can improve significantly. It is just one of the reasons they are here.

APCH helps those at risk of becoming homeless keep their homes. They also continue to help previous guests through ongoing communication and providing support to prevent situations that could put them at risk of becoming homeless again. The staff has extensive knowledge of all government and community based programs and services related to homelessness and the barriers that those facing homelessness encounter.

The hard work and dedication A Place Called Home puts into creating caring solutions in an ever growing crisis is a blessing and needed more than ever.

An important victory!

An important victory!

🗣️ ACTO represented Ms. Denise Browne, who received an eviction notice from her landlord after her husband — the sole person named on the lease — was removed by police for domestic violence.

👉 Despite living in their matrimonial home for over 10 years and raising her two children there, and believing herself to be a tenant, Ms. Browne was faced with the choice of being evicted or paying more than double her rent to remain housed.

🚀ACTO is pleased to share that Ms. Browne has won the appeal against her landlord. All too often, survivors of domestic violence face displacement and heightened risk of homelessness in the aftermath of abuse. The court's decision sets a crucial precedent reinforcing that survivors should not be penalized or displaced because of violence they have experienced.
