We are pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Mishkel as President & Chief Executive Officer of Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital Foundation, effective Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

After leading the Foundation as Interim President & CEO, Ian has earned the Board's confidence to guide the Foundation through an important time for healthcare in our region. With extensive healthcare fundraising experience and a passion for connecting healthcare, education, and philanthropy, he's excited to help strengthen care across our region.

"I am honoured to continue serving the OSMH Foundation as President & CEO," said Ian Mishkel. "I have been inspired by the generosity of our donors, the dedication of our volunteers, and the commitment of our Foundation and Hospital teams. I am grateful to Tom Roberts, Interim President & CEO of OSMH, and Cathy Clark, Chair of the OSMH Foundation Board of Directors, for their leadership and support during this transition."

Ian is looking forward to working alongside Mary Silverthorn and building on the strength of the partnership between the Hospital and Foundation to advance healthcare for the communities we serve.

With the appointments of Mary Silverthorn as President & CEO of the Hospital and Ian Mishkel as President & CEO of the Foundation, both organizations have completed important leadership transitions and are moving forward with a shared vision for the future.

Thanks to generous donations from our communities, Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital has introduced two new Exercise Stress Testing Systems, giving our Cardiology team advanced tools to detect heart conditions earlier and guide life-saving treatment decisions.

Exercise stress testing plays a critical role in assessing how the heart performs during physical activity and is often an important step in diagnosing coronary artery disease, heart rhythm abnormalities, and other exercise-induced cardiac conditions. This non-invasive test provides valuable information that helps healthcare teams determine the safest and most effective treatment plans for patients.

This leading-edge technology is helping patients receive high-quality, compassionate care closer to home, while improving access to critical cardiac testing across our region.

Thanks to the generous support of the Maxwell and Ruth Leroy Foundation, Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital has welcomed four new ventilators.

Ventilators are critical equipment that supports patients during some of their most vulnerable moments. When breathing becomes impossible on a patient's own, a ventilator provides essential support, delivering oxygen and giving the body time to heal.

Because of community-powered support like this, healthcare excellence remains close to home for families across our region.

Thank you to those who donated to Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital in honour of Dr. John Seki's retirement from his office practice and elective surgeries.

Our initial goal was to raise $2,400 to honour his 24 years in our community. Due to the incredible support and Dr. Seki's meaningful care, we surpassed our goal and raised $3,081 for excellent patient care.

Dr. Seki was very honoured and humbled by the donations from the community, as well as the kind comments of gratitude he received.

Thank you for supporting high-quality care in our region in honour of Dr. Seki.
