It's cold out there. And this February, we are going to do something about it. Together with thousands of Canadians across the country, we will be walking and fundraising to support people and families experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness in our community through the Orangeville Food Bank & Dufferin Food Share Grand Valley.
Orangeville Food Bank & Dufferin Food Share Grand Valley supports Orangeville and area residents in need of emergency food assistance. They support 1,500+ people a month, which is a 37% increase over 2024. Housing and rising food costs have forced more people to reach out for help for the first time.
They see first-hand the challenges of living without enough food. Individuals having to choose between the hard costs of housing and utilities or buying food. Their goal is to provide a dignified experience to those in need, including access to fresh and perishable foods in a caring environment.
As an organization that receives no annual provincial or federal funding the Orangeville Food Bank and Dufferin Food Share Grand Valley are largely community-funded. Funds raised through the Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk will support the operations of the Food Bank including fresh food purchases, gardening programs, senior's fresh food markets, fresh food packages for children and our Community Food Share program.
