Last year just before Christmas I had an idea and wanted to do something for single moms (on a low income, or with Family Transition Place), and put together "Believe Bags". Because of the timing we didn't know how many bags we would be able to do, but talked to friends and family and instead of exchanging gifts, we bought items specifically for women and put together a "Believe Bag". We know that

children are not forgotten as we have many toy drives and events that ensure kids have a Christmas, but we wanted to make sure women could Believe too. Contributions such as nail polish, make-up remover, and any items geared towards women would be something greatly appreciated. In 2012 we were able to provide a "Believe Bag for every woman staying at Family Transition Place. This year we hope to create enough "Believe Bags" for as many women as we possibly can. Please note that this is not a registered charity and we are relying on the help of this great community to help us reach our goal.

DKI Highland is thrilled to support the Seniors Stocking Stuffing Program of Dufferin County and Family Transition Place in Orangeville. This holiday season, join us in bringing warmth and joy to local seniors and families in need.

Donation Ideas:

• Clothing accessories (socks, gloves, scarves)
• Hamper items (towels, robes, blankets, etc.)
•Books, toiletries, and treats

Important Dates:
• Seniors Stocking Stuffing Program donations accepted until December 2nd.
• Family Transition Place donations accepted until December 20th.

Donations can be dropped off at the DKI Highland office at 9 Commerce Road, Orangeville, ON, L9W 3X5.

I have not come to this decision lightly, and after many sleepless nights have made the difficult decision to take a step back. After ten years of running this very successful charity, I have had a number of unfortunate events that have taken a toll. As my good friend says “how can you fill everyone else’s cup if yours is half full?”

This year I will not be distributing baskets for product donations, however, I encourage our local community to still support Believe Bags by requesting cash donations.

Our generous community, as well as my team of volunteers have gifted over 2,500 Christmas gift bags to single moms over the years. We have also raised $40,000 over the course of the pandemic allowing us to purchase gift certificates from many of our struggling businesses.

There are two ways you can help us reach this same goal:

Firstly, you can donate directly to the local charity of your choice on behalf of Believe Bags.
1. The Orangeville Food Bank https://orangevillefoodbank.org/
2. Dufferin Child and Family Services (DCAFS) https://dcafs.on.ca/
3. Family Transition Place (FTP) https://familytransitionplace.ca/
4. Big Brothers and Sisters of Dufferin https://dufferin.bigbrothersbig

(All donations over $25.00 will receive a tax receipt from these registered charities.)

The second option is to donate directly to Believe Bags via e-transfer to [email protected]
All direct Believe Bag donations will be donated to the above mentioned charities.
(Tax receipt not included.)

Thank you so much for your trust, your community spirit, and for helping me make a difference over the past 10 years. Donations will be accepted from November 12th up until December 24th.
