🐾Furever Home Update! 🐾

"Georgie, formerly known as Opal, is fitting in like a charm in my household. From the moment I opened the cat carrier when I brought him into his designated room, he hopped right out and sat on my lap purring.

The main purpose of adopting Georgie was to get a companion for my 10 month old kitten and to keep said 10 month old kitten from bugging my 16 year old cat. Her friends moved out (my daughter and cats moved) and she was so very lonely. Georgie fits the bill perfectly. After a few hisses and swats, they have become the best of friends, running like kittens do up and down our hallways and stairs. The separation period was only two days and when released from his initial room, he walked down the hall proudly with his tail high in the air. He's a bold kitten and very confident.

The adoption process was so smooth. From the moment he and I connected in the Petsmart, to bringing him home, was flawless. Yes, I have received the food from Royal Canin and I'm appreciative. Unfortunately Georgie is turning his nose up at all wet food (I'm working on it) but loves the crunchies...

Attached please find a picture of him on my lap -- I work from home and he's a great assistant. Also find a picture of him and my other kitten, sitting in a spot that is way too small to fit the pair of them, but they managed.
Thank you again for such a wonderful pet!"

We are aware about information circulating on social media about a cat that was recently cared for by our animal centre and that inaccurate information about this situation has been shared online. While we cannot discuss the details of any individual animal's history or adoption due to privacy considerations, we can confirm that the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society follows all applicable municipal bylaws and established procedures when caring for stray animals and facilitating adoptions.
Our goal is always to reunite lost animals with their families whenever possible. This is why we strongly encourage all pet owners to ensure their animals are microchipped and that contact information associated with the microchip is kept up to date. Permanent identification is one of the most effective ways to help lost pets return home quickly and safely.
When questions arise regarding an animal's history, our team works diligently and compassionately with everyone involved to understand the circumstances and explore available options. In this case, the individuals involved have communicated directly with our team and have expressed their understanding of the situation.
We recognize that emotions can run high when a beloved pet is involved. Our focus remains on supporting the well-being of the animal while following legal requirements and established processes designed to serve both animals and the community.
We appreciate the public's understanding and encourage anyone with concerns to contact our team directly rather than relying on information shared through social media.

🐾 Missing a furry friend? Check our website! 🐾

If your beloved companion has gone missing, one of the first places you should look is our website.

As part of our Found Animal Program, we regularly care for lost animals while we work to reunite them with their families. From curious cats and adventurous dogs to small animals that have wandered from home, your furry friend may be safe and waiting to be reunited with you.

We encourage anyone searching for a lost animal to regularly check the found animals section of our website. New animals may arrive at any time, and checking often could help bring your friend home sooner. ❤️

While we're on the topic of lost animals, here's a friendly reminder about the importance of microchipping. When a found animal comes into our care, one of the first things we do is scan for a microchip. If the chip is registered and your contact information is up to date, we can quickly identify your furry friend and contact you directly to let you know they're safe and ready to come home. 🏡

A microchip can't prevent your friend from getting lost, but it can make a world of difference in helping reunite you if they do.

🔍 Looking for a lost animal? Visit our website at ontariospca.ca to view the animals currently in our care and check back often.

Your furry friend might be closer than you think!🐾💙
