A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Euchre on April 11. Thanks to your generosity and community spirit, we were able to donate $2,400 to Bethell Hospice today.
On top of that, your kindness helped us deliver 191 pounds of food to the Orangeville Food Bank — a remarkable contribution that will support local families in need. And a special mention goes to K&G Engraving and Gifts (34 First St.) and GFL for their generous donation of amazing prizes for those who contributed to our food drive. Your support added an extra layer of fun and encouragement to the event, and we are truly grateful.

A heartfelt thank you for the continued support and participation of all who attended our Spring Euchre. Be on the lookout for information about our next Euchre on October 17.

Oh what a night!
Last night marked our very first Fashion Show event in support of Headwaters Health Care Foundation, and I wanted to take a moment this morning to acknowledge some of the people who helped make it such a memorable success.

A huge shout‑out to Pear Home for providing a stunning showcase of beautiful fashions. Be sure to visit their amazing shop at 185 Broadway — open 9:30–6 Monday to Saturday and from 11 on Sunday. They offer fashions for every occasion, along with gifts, kitchen décor, and so much more. Karen, Brittany, and Christine did an outstanding job selecting such a wonderful variety of outfits and ensuring our models felt comfortable and confident. One our our door prizes was also donated by Pear Home, adding to the support from them that we value so much. We were also thrilled to have Christina, the Frank Lyman representative, join us with a gorgeous selection of pieces and share insights about their line. She reminded everyone that Pear Home carries many Frank Lyman styles beyond what was featured on the runway. Christina also offered up one of our door prizes and one lucky attendee went home with a gift certificate for a Frank Lyman outfit....how great is that!

Our heartfelt thanks also go to Jennifer and her team at Déjà Vu Diner. Not only did they provide the perfect venue, but they worked tirelessly to ensure everyone received their delicious meals and beverages promptly — all while navigating models, clothing racks, and the energy of the evening with ease. On top of that one of our door prizes was a gift certificate thank you Jennifer! If you’re looking for great food in a friendly atmosphere, Déjà Vu at 400 Townline, open daily from 7:30–8, is the place to go.

We also want to acknowledge all those who joined us last night — including the many loyal supporters who attend our events time and again. Your enthusiasm and generosity are at the heart of evenings like this. We strive to create an enjoyable experience for everyone while continuing to make a meaningful impact in our community.

A few of our members enjoyed a wonderful day visiting local libraries to donate a copy of Iggy Included, one of the books shortlisted for the IODE Violet Downey Book Award. It was a pleasure to meet library staff and learn about the many activities and resources they offer to our community.
We finished our library visits with the Mill St. Branch of Orangeville Library. We had a tour led by Kathryn. She gave us a brief description and timeline of the beautiful additions that have been made after renovations completed over the past several years.
Yet another valuable gem that offers so much for so many in our community.
I've included a little bit about the Violet Downey Award below.
Orangeville Public Library
Through the generosity of an IODE member, the late Mrs. Violet Downey, IODE Canada established The National Chapter of Canada IODE Violet Downey Book Award in 1984. The first award was presented in 1985.
The award is offered annually for the best English language book containing at least 500 words of text (preferably with Canadian content) in any category, suitable for children aged 13 and under. To be eligible, the book must have been written by a Canadian citizen and must have been distributed in Canada during the calendar year immediately preceding the National Chapter Annual Meeting held in May.
