Some wounds don't come from strangers.
They come from the people who knew exactly where you were soft.
The people who knew your history.
Your grief.
Your fears.
The things it took years to trust someone with.
And then one day, they simply stop answering.
I've spent a lot of time wondering what it really means to meet someone where they are.
Maybe it means sitting beside someone's grief without trying to make it disappear.
Maybe it means staying when things become uncomfortable.
Maybe it means seeing the darkness inside someone and not deciding they're too much to love.
I've also come to realize something strange.
The safest place I've ever created isn't necessarily filled with people.
It's filled with birdsong.
Old paws.
Barking dogs.
Quiet mornings.
And souls who never have to wonder whether they are still good enough to keep.
I built a home where nobody has to earn their place.
Maybe because I know what it feels like to be afraid of losing it.
