SALTS - Southern Alberta Land Trust Society SALTS is a rancher-led, landowner driven, grassroots charitable organization closely connected to the land and the community it serves.

SALTS is a non-profit society with a simple vision: clean water, healthy natural habitats, and viable rural communities and ranches. We know all of these things can work together but it takes a shared vision and some focused effort. SALTS was founded on the belief that the most effective and lasting conservation solutions are created and maintained at the community and landowner level. Our job is to help landowners and communities implement those solutions.

For Tamara, SALTS' Stewardship Manager, summer is about getting outside and spending time with her animals. You’ll often find her riding her horse and working with her stock dogs, soaking up the open country and making the most of time outdoors. This year Tamara plans to get more hiking in and enjoy the many beautiful, world-class trails Alberta has to offer!

This summer, Erin, SALTS' Director of Operations, is looking forward to exploring Southern Alberta with the family and making memories along the way. Highlights so far include a trip to Alberta's Birds of Prey Centre in Coaldale and enjoying time in the foothills. The joy is often found in the journey as much as the destination!

For Sasha, the summer is all about enjoying the mountains.
Few things compare to a day spent hiking to alpine lakes, taking in the views, and casting a fly line in some of Alberta's most beautiful landscapes. It's an opportunity to unplug, challenge yourself, and appreciate the places that make these landscapes so special.
This summer, Sasha's setting an ambitious goal: completing the 55 km run/hike to Rockwall Lake. The journey will be demanding, but the reward—spectacular mountain scenery and time spent outdoors—makes every step worthwhile.
Whether it's an afternoon on the water or a long day on the trail, summer adventures are all about the experiences along the way!

Summer means different things to different people - for Rylee Hewitt, SALTS' Conservation Manager - it's all about time spent with family.
For her, rodeos and team ropings have long been a summer tradition, creating memories with family, friends, and neighbours. Now, with her own children old enough to compete, those experiences have taken on a whole new meaning.
This summer will be filled with rodeos, camping trips, fishing adventures, campfires, and plenty of time outdoors. While there are always places to go and things to do, her goal is simple: make the most of these moments while the kids are young.

Time spent outdoors has a way of putting things into perspective.
For Dawn, our Finance and Admin Manager, a few hours on the golf course is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the fresh air, take in the scenery, and focus on something she loves. Whether it's a challenging shot, spending time with good friends, or a quiet moment between holes, it's time well spent!
