Unwanted telemarketing calls aren’t just annoying — Canadians have rights. 📞🇨🇦

You can register your number on the National Do Not Call List (DNCL) and ask telemarketers to add you to their own internal do-not-call list.

Stay alert: caller ID can be spoofed, and scammers may ignore the rules entirely.

Protect yourself:
• Don’t share banking information, passwords or one-time codes
• Don’t send gift cards or cryptocurrency to unexpected callers
• Hang up and verify the organization using its official contact information

When dreams start becoming visible. ❤️

So happy to see Cyber Harassment Support (CHS) coming to life as we get ready for our upcoming public booth with MPP Effie Triantafilopoulos on September 13 in Oakville.

For CHS, this is more than setting up a booth. It is another opportunity to connect with our community, raise awareness about online safety, and make support for cyber harassment, sextortion, scams, digital blackmail and AI-enabled harms more accessible.

If you’re in Oakville and would like to join us, come say hello — we’d love to see you there! 💙

Digital dignity. Online safety. Humanity first.

📩 Know Your Rights: Canada’s Anti-Spam Law (CASL)

Unwanted commercial emails and text messages are not just annoying — Canada has rules around how businesses and organizations can contact you electronically.

Under CASL, commercial electronic messages generally need to follow requirements around consent, identifying the sender, providing contact information, and offering an unsubscribe option.

Protect yourself online:
✅ Check who is contacting you
✅ Be cautious with unexpected messages
✅ Don’t click suspicious links
✅ Unsubscribe only when you trust the sender
✅ Report spam or phishing when needed

🔐 Privacy protection starts with accountability.

Under PIPEDA, organizations that collect personal information have a responsibility to handle it carefully, transparently and only for appropriate purposes.

That means obtaining meaningful consent, collecting only what is necessary, protecting information with appropriate safeguards, keeping it accurate, limiting retention, and giving individuals a way to ask questions or raise concerns.

Strong privacy practices build trust, transparency and digital dignity.

Know your privacy rights under PIPEDA. 🔐

Your personal information should not be collected, used, or shared without clear purpose and appropriate protection. You can ask why your information is being collected, request access or corrections, understand how it has been used or shared, and raise concerns about how an organization handles your privacy.

Awareness is the first step toward protecting your personal information. 💙

🚨 SCAM ALERT: Fake Bank Investigator / “Safe Account” Scam

Scammers may call pretending to be from your bank, claim there is suspicious activity on your account, and pressure you to move money to a so-called “safe account.”

⚠️ A legitimate bank will not ask you to transfer money to protect it.

Protect yourself:
✅ Hang up and verify independently
✅ Call your bank using the number on your card or official website
✅ Never share PINs, passwords or one-time verification codes
❌ Never transfer money because a caller creates urgency or asks you to keep it secret

If you feel rushed, stop. Pressure is a red flag.

🚨 Roblox isn’t just a game — it’s a social space.

Children can chat, interact with strangers, join private spaces and build online relationships. Parents should regularly review privacy and chat settings, use parental controls, and talk openly about grooming, manipulation and unsafe online behaviour.

⚠️ The biggest risk may not be the game. It may be who is on the other side of the screen.

Stay involved. Stay aware. Keep the conversation open.

🔐 Don’t share banking or identification details before confirming legitimacy
📁 Save emails, offer letters, receipts, recruiter profiles and job-posting links
