Founder and Director Leslie Ashworth created the Suite Melody Care program, after seeing the smiles on hospital patients' faces from her own performances. As a young violinist, pianist, and composer herself, Leslie wanted other youth to experience similar gratification and exhilaration derived from performances for hospital patients, long-term/palliative care residents, and the elderly. known that music and medicine go hand in hand as music creates magical moments that can calm, excite, and bring joy to those listening. Music can reach deeply inside people. It brings people together from any age and background, activates emotions, relieves symptoms, and overall gives patients something to focus on other than their pain and anxieties. Suite Melody Care is founded to encourage talented, young musicians across the country to give back to their community by performing in their local hospitals, retirement residences, and long-term care facilities: taking audiences on musical journeys and sharing fun music trivia with the Suite Melody Care audiences.
