Throwback to one of Cameron's earliest summers at Camp Kirk.

Most people play the recorder with their mouth.

Cameron and his counsellor decided to try their noses instead.

Was it a little wacky? Absolutely.

Did it make the audience laugh, cheer, and celebrate? You bet it did!

At Camp Kirk, creativity doesn't have to fit inside a box. Neurodivergent children and youth often see the world differently, and that's something worth celebrating. Here, campers are encouraged to try new things, share their ideas, take risks, and be exactly who they are.

Sometimes that looks like discovering a hidden talent.

Sometimes it looks like finding the confidence to step onto a stage.

And sometimes it looks like playing a recorder with your nose while an entire camp cheers you on.

The magic isn't in the performance. It's in knowing you're supported enough to try.

Before camper begins this summer, many families are still counting on financial assistance to make Camp Kirk possible.

Years ago, donor support helped Graham send his neurodivergent son, Cameron, to Camp Kirk.

At camp, Cameron found a place where he was accepted for exactly who he is. Fourteen years later, he still returns each summer as a staff member. He is a true Camp Kirk success story.

Today, as a monthly donor, Graham is helping create that same opportunity for another child.

This year, demand for financial assistance has been especially high. Your support helps bridge the gap between what families can afford and the true cost of creating a camp experience where neurodivergent children and teens feel understood, accepted, and celebrated.

Donate today so another child can experience the same magic of belonging that changed Cameron's life.

What would our long-time camper turned staff member, Cameron, tell a new camper about Camp Kirk?

After 14 summers at camp, Cameron knows exactly what makes this place so special.

He would tell them Camp Kirk is a place of acceptance. A place where neurodivergent children, teens, and staff are free to be themselves and celebrated for who they are.

A place where friendships grow, confidence shines, and belonging feels real.

That’s the Magic of Belonging.

Don’t forget that your gift will be double until June 7th!!

For most children, camp is just a summer memory. For Cameron, it changed the course of his life.

Fourteen years ago, Cameron arrived at Camp Kirk as a camper. Like many families navigating neurodiversity, his family was searching for a place where he would feel understood, accepted, and safe being himself.

Because of Camp Kirk’s onboarding program, Cameron had already spoken to camp staff, come for a visit, and knew that this was a place where he could be himself. He already felt safe and accepted.

That summer, every skill he mastered, campfire sing-a-long, and friendship he built, grew his confidence, and taught him that his differences are his superpowers.

Fourteen years later, and Cameron will return to Camp Kirk not as a camper, but for another summer as a staff member. he is now a part of helping to create the experience he had for the next generation of children and youth.

That kind of transformation does not happen by accident.

It happens because communities choose to invest in inclusion. It happens because donors step forward to ensure families can access support, belonging, and opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.

As we prepare for another summer at Camp Kirk, more families than ever are requesting financial assistance. The need is growing, and so is the impact this community can make.

Cameron’s story is a reminder that when neurodivergent young people are given the right environment, they do not just participate. They thrive.

And years later, many come back ready to give that experience to someone else.

Join our community with a donation today! With the Connor-Uffelmann Foundation Match your gift will be doubled until June 7th. https://campkirk.com/connor-uffelmann-foundation-match/

Today, we recognize the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia — a time to stand for kindness, respect, and inclusion for all. 🌈

At Camp Kirk, we are proud to create a space where every child can show up as their true self, feel welcomed, and know they belong. Whether it’s around the campfire, on the field, or in a cabin, we celebrate the differences that make each camper unique.

Here’s to our Camp Kirk community where everyone is seen, valued, and supported — today and every day.
