🌿 Exciting News! Phase 1 of the Ox Cart Station Revitalization Project is Underway! 🌿

We're thrilled to share that the first phase of our vision for the Ox Cart Station is officially happening!

Over the coming weeks you'll begin to see:
🌱 A complete revamp of the garden area
🪨 Fresh gravel throughout the outdoor space
🌸 New landscape beds being installed
🚧 Removal of the chain-link fence
🌼 Preparation for beautiful new plantings next year

This is just the beginning! Our vision doesn't stop here.

Phase 2 will bring a welcoming wooden deck and pergola, additional picnic tables, enhanced landscaping, and an inviting outdoor gathering space for our community to enjoy.

Projects like this are only possible through the support of our community. We'll be relying on grant funding, fundraising initiatives, generous donations, and volunteers to help make this vision a reality while keeping costs as low as possible.

A huge thank you to 6-Yard Earthworks & Excavation Ltd. for fitting us into their busy schedule on such short notice. Your support is greatly appreciated, and we're excited to see the transformation begin!

🚧 WE'RE STILL LOOKING FOR HELP! 🚧

Thanks to the incredible support of our community, most of the garden beds shown in the photo have now been removed! We are so grateful to everyone who donated their time, effort, and resources to help move this project forward.

However, we still have an important piece of the puzzle missing.

We are currently seeking quotes to:
✅ Remove the remaining grass and wood chips
✅ Spread gravel
✅ Haul away the removed material

We've met with a few individuals and businesses, but we have yet to receive written quotes. We completely understand that this is a busy time of year, and we're not working under a strict deadline. What we do need are formal quotes so we can make informed decisions and apply for grant funding.

Without those quotes, unfortunately, the project cannot move to the next stage.

If you know someone with a skid steer, dump trailer, or the equipment and expertise to tackle this work, please reach out! We'd greatly appreciate any recommendations or referrals.

🌱✨ WE HAVE A DREAM... AND WE NEED YOUR HELP! ✨🌱

The Oak Lake Community Development Board has some exciting plans in the works for the Ox Cart Station garden area, and we can't wait to share them with you!

As we prepare for a major refresh, we're looking to clear out the existing garden space. Four of the raised garden beds are still viable so can be used, everything else is also ready for a new home.

💚 Here's where you come in: Take what you can use (soil, wood chips, old wood from garden beds), repurpose, or give new life to! Whether you're a gardener, DIY enthusiast, or just love a good project, there may be something here for you.

📍 First come, first served.🚫 The rain barrel is not included.💰 In lieu of a set price, we're asking that anyone who takes items make a monetary donation to the OLCDB to help bring our vision for this space to life.

Our goal is to have everything (except the rain barrel) removed, and every donation will help us move one step closer to creating something special for our community.

🌟Facade Grant-Did you know?!?!🌟
A question has come up that we thought we would share the answer online in case anyone else is wondering!

❓❓Does making improvements on my property, such as painting or landscaping, increase my property taxes❓❓

Answer: No, completing exterior facade improvements such as;
-Painting -Windows
-Signage -Landscaping
-Siding -Fencing

Does NOT increase your property taxes. The only time that would come into play is the construction of a new building, additions, or major structural improvements.

Unsure if your Project fits the Grant? Come to the RM Office and speak with CDB Member Rachelle Stannage.

The Oak Lake Regional Community Development Board is excited to announce the 2026 Facade Grant Program!

Even if it doesn’t quite feel like spring yet, project season is here—and we’re ready to help bring your ideas to life.

💰 Receive up to $1,000.00
(Available for one commercial applicant and one residential property owner)

✨ Eligible Projects Include:
• Exterior painting
• Siding replacement or upgrades
• Landscaping enhancements
• Murals or artistic improvements
• Business signage
• And more!

📅 Important Dates:
• Applications Open: May 1, 2026
