South Shore Refugee Project

South Shore Refugee Project South Shore Refugee Project is sponsoring a refugee family to come to the South Shore of Nova Scotia We choose to focus on what we can do.

In early 2022, our community was approached by Jesuit Refugee Service Canada (JRS), asking if we would be able to sponsor a refugee family. This was a knock at the door, one that we felt we could not leave unanswered. The South Shore Refugee Project was born from this invitation - our aim is to open this door together, with joyful hope, and welcome a refugee family to the South Shore of Nova Scoti

a. We're pleased to announce that the family we're sponsoring to immigrate to the South Shore Yousef and Fatima, and their three kids: Mari, Yasser, and Darya. The family is originally from Syria, but has been living in small village in the Lebanese mountains since 2013. We rely on the gifts and generosity of one another and those around us - time, talents, and resources. With confidence, we will take small, steady steps into the future. At each step of the way, we will consider the opportunities for education, for inclusion, for sharing this project with the wider community. We look forward to welcoming Yousef and Fatima, and their three kids to the South Shore and accompanying them as they settle into their new lives in Canada. We want to build a future together with refugees. We want to remain open and allow ourselves to be changed by this invitation and by all the people it will bring into our lives.
