Job Posting – Supported Independent Living (SIL) Support Worker

Aspen Winds is a social service agency offering support to adults with physical and intellectual disabilities. We are currently seeking a Supported Independent Living (SIL) Support Worker for part-time permanent employment. The successful applicant will have access to our pension and benefits program.
Starting wage is $19.00, 14-20 hours per week with the possibility to increase.

Responsibilities include:
- Supporting clients with day-to-day activities including assistance with cooking, laundry, light housekeeping and minimal personal hygiene
- Transporting clients to and from appointments and other trips.
- Assisting clients with basic decision making and time management.

Requirements/Assets:
- Minimum Grade 10
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and within the person-centered framework.
- English and French bilingual considered an asset.
- Applicants are required to have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Applicants are required to have current First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training or be willing to complete such training.
- Applicants must submit a recent Criminal Background Check in the Vulnerable Persons Sector before the position start date and be willing to complete an Adult Abuse Registry Check.

Job Posting – Full Time Carpenter/Direct Support Worker

Aspen Winds is a social service agency offering support to adults with intellectual disabilities. We provide day services to individuals in and around Notre Dame de Lourdes and have a residence in Notre Dame. We are currently seeking a full time Carpenter/Direct Support Worker. A full-time position is 9am to 4pm Monday through Friday. The successful applicant will also have access to our pension and benefits program. Salary will be determined by the Board of Directors based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities include:
- Have a genuine interest in supporting people with intellectual disabilities;
- Fostering a positive relationship with our program participants;
- Providing direct support to our participants at the day programs that is in accordance with the Vulnerable Persons Act. This support allows individuals to connect with their communities and learn/maintain life skills. This support may vary from day to day.

Requirements/Assets:
- Have a minimum Canadian Grade 10 education or equivalent
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with safe use of woodworking/carpentry tools
- Applicants are required to have current First Aid and Non-violent Crisis Intervention training or be willing to complete such training
- Applicants must submit a recent Criminal Background Check in the Vulnerable Persons Sector before the position start date and be willing to complete an Adult Abuse Registry Check
- Manitoba Driver's License an asset
