💙 Men's Health Month 💚

This month, we're joining the conversation around men's health by raising awareness, sharing resources, and encouraging open and honest discussions about both mental and physical wellbeing.

Throughout June, we'll be sharing helpful information, support services, and personal reflections from our team members who have chosen to share their own experiences. These stories remind us that health challenges can affect anyone, and that talking about them can make a real difference.

Whether it's mental health, physical health, resilience, recovery, or simply taking that first step to ask for support, every conversation matters.

Let's challenge stigma, support one another, and help create a culture where men feel comfortable speaking up and seeking help when they need it. 🫶

What a fantastic day at our Vanguard Court Summer Event! ☀️💛

Despite the weather trying to dampen our plans, nothing could dampen the fun! Residents and staff enjoyed a wonderful day filled with crafts, delicious food, outdoor games, and plenty of smiles.

A particular highlight was our adorable mini donkeys, who were a huge hit with everyone. There were lots of opportunities to walk, pet, and spend time with these gentle visitors.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special. It’s moments like these that bring our community together and create lasting memories.

My name is Sean.

I've been a peer support volunteering for the NIHCSS for a year and a half.

My favourite part of volunteering is making connections with the service users, talking and getting to know them, with mutual respect and understanding, that while we may be on different stages of our recovery journey our end goals remain the same.

I volunteer because I want to give to service users what I was given, hope, that things can and will get better with small steps and agreed goals working together.

I recently was away from the groups for 2 weeks and the warm welcomes I received on my return gave me a real sense of achievement that I'm making genuine connections, and that the little bit of my time I'm giving is appreciated which continues to give me a sense of purpose and a drive to succeed.

Also the support and encouragement I receive from Tom, Zoe, Jake and the rest of the team helps me be a better peer support volunteer.

My name is Shayne.

I’ve been peer support volunteering for the NIHCSS for three months, and my favourite part of volunteering is those quiet, meaningful moments when someone feels truly heard — when you can almost see the weight lift from their shoulders because they realise they’re not facing things alone. It’s the small shifts, the gentle conversations, and the shared humanity that make this role feel so special.

I volunteer because it allows me to turn my own lived experience into something steady, supportive, and hopeful for someone else. Being part of someone’s journey — even in a small way — reminds me how powerful connection can be. It gives me purpose, keeps me grounded, and lets me contribute to a community built on compassion and understanding.

Volunteers' Week 2026 💚💙

This week, we are celebrating the incredible volunteers who give their time, energy, compassion, and dedication to support others in our communities.

Volunteers play a vital role in helping us make a positive difference every day. Their kindness, commitment, and willingness to help create lasting impacts for the people we support.

Throughout Volunteers' Week, we'll be sharing stories, experiences, and reflections from some of our amazing volunteers, highlighting the difference they make and the reasons they choose to volunteer.

To all our volunteers, thank you. Your contribution is valued, appreciated, and truly makes a difference.

💙 Men Experience Mental Illness Too 💚

Mental health struggles don’t discriminate and no one should feel they have to suffer in silence.

It’s okay to not be okay.
It’s okay to ask for help.
And it’s okay to talk about how you’re feeling.

Checking in, opening up, and supporting one another can make a real difference. Strength isn’t about hiding emotions, it’s about facing them.

You are not alone. Help is here, and hope is real.
