*Etiquette in Public and Private Places*

*Definition of Etiquette*

Etiquette is the set of rules, customs, and acceptable behaviors that guide how people interact with one another in a respectful, polite, and considerate manner. It involves showing good manners, respect, courtesy, and responsibility in different situations.

Introduction

Good day everyone.

Today, I will be discussing Etiquette in Public and Private Places.

Etiquette plays an important role in our daily lives. It helps us maintain good relationships, promotes mutual respect, and creates a peaceful environment. Whether we are at home, at work, in school, or in public spaces, our behavior reflects our values and character.

Objectives of Etiquette

1. To promote respect among individuals.
2. To encourage good behavior and manners.
3. To create a peaceful and orderly society.
4. To improve communication and relationships.
5. To foster responsibility and self-discipline.

Etiquette in Public Places

Public places include markets, schools, offices, hospitals, places of worship, parks, and public transportation.

Examples of good public etiquette include:

- Greeting people politely.
- Respecting queues and waiting your turn.
- Keeping the environment clean.
- Speaking politely and respectfully.
- Respecting public property.
- Being punctual and responsible.
- Avoiding excessive noise.
- Following rules and regulations.

Etiquette in Private Places

Private places include our homes and the homes of relatives and friends.

Examples of good private etiquette include:

- Respecting family members.
- Knocking before entering a room.
- Maintaining cleanliness.
- Respecting people's privacy.
- Using polite language.
- Helping with household responsibilities.
- Caring for personal and shared property.
- Being considerate of others' feelings.

Importance of Etiquette

- Builds strong relationships.
- Promotes peace and harmony.
- Enhances personal reputation.
- Encourages mutual respect.
- Creates a positive environment.
- Improves communication.
- Reflects good character and values.

Conclusion

Etiquette is an essential part of everyday life. Practicing good manners in both public and private places helps us become responsible individuals and contributes to a more peaceful and respectful society. We should always strive to treat others with courtesy, dignity, and respect wherever we find ourselves.

Thank you.

Another special moment that touched my heart was the honor bestowed upon me during the inauguration ceremony.

I had the privilege of serving as the Parade Commander/RSM (Regimental Sergeant Major) during the march past. Standing before the detachment and leading the parade was a moment of pride, responsibility, and gratitude to God.

As a mark of recognition, I was formally decorated and adorned with rank insignia on my shoulders, symbolizing leadership, commitment, and service. The cap was placed on my head, and I was entrusted with the responsibility of helping to lead this great detachment.

For me, this was more than a decoration—it was a reminder that God honors faithfulness and rewards dedication. A journey that started with a passion to serve humanity has now grown into a testimony of leadership, impact, and God's unfailing grace.

I am deeply humbled by this honor and grateful to the Nigeria Red Cross Society, my team, and everyone who believed in me.

To God alone be all the glory. What God cannot do does not exist!

And as if that was not enough, God crowned our efforts with great honor and recognition. Through the Nigeria Red Cross Society, our newly inaugurated Kings and Queens Detachment was presented with the Nigerian National Flag and the Nigeria Red Cross Society Flag as symbols of service, unity, and commitment to humanity.

We were also awarded certificates after successfully completing our training and meeting all necessary requirements. What a joyful moment it was!

Not only that, every single participant who went through the training and dedication process received a certificate as a testament to their hard work, commitment, and achievement.

When we look back at where we started and see where God has brought us today, our hearts overflow with gratitude. Is God not good?

Indeed, He has been faithful beyond words. He has turned our little efforts into great testimonies and our dreams into reality.

To God alone be all the glory, honor, and praise!
