For Sarina De Bartolo and Neil Samant, starting a Best Buddies chapter at Lauremont School meant more than simply leading a school club. They saw an opportunity to make a difference in their community, spread awareness about intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), and contribute to a more inclusive school environment.🌟

As Chapter Presidents, they helped pair Lauremont students in one-to-one friendships with Bayview Secondary School's special education students, fostering a sense of belonging that extended beyond school walls. They've watched students laugh, play games, and form friendships that wouldn't have existed without Best Buddies.

Sarina and Neil's experience reminds us that true inclusion starts with an open mindset and the willingness to reach out. By bringing students from different schools together, they’ve shown how meaningful connections can grow when we step beyond the circles we’re familiar with.💜
