Yesterday was a BLAST as over 500 guests came through for our DAY 1 ARTIST SHOWCASE & SMALL BUSINESS MARKET.

Today is the last day to enjoy the annual Community Arts Festival. From interactive art to family-friendly fun, there’s something for everyone to enjoy:

🕊️ We are honoured to dedicate this year’s Community Art Festival to Cashie Auguste. Please join us in celebrating Cashie’s life as our artists will be working on a memorial art piece.

⭐️ The Jane & Finch Community Arts Festival is a two-day artist showcase and small business market that celebrates the arts and culture of our neighbourhoods. It was created to help bring our residents and guests all over the city to come together especially during times of grief, trauma and loss.

Join us for Day 2 of the Jane-Finch Community Arts Festival as we continue celebrating the incredible artists, performers, and creatives who make our community so vibrant. Hosted once again by kadiatubarrie1@ gmail.com, with bringing the sounds and keeping us moving throughout the day! 🎶✨

DJ Yana (she/her)

DJ Yana is a rising DJ based in Toronto’s West End, known for bringing infectious energy and unforgettable vibes to every set. Inspired and trained through 4TWE under the guidance of Enzo Mezu, she has since made her mark performing at events hosted by Plain Jane Promotions and Monkey Business, and more recently at venues such as, Lavelle and APT 200. Blending Afroswing, Afrobeats, Dancehall, and pure feel-good rhythms, DJ Yana creates dynamic soundscapes that keep crowds moving and connected. With her passion for music and community, she continues to carve out her space in the city’s vibrant DJ scene.

Sumi is a DJ and multidisciplinary creative born and raised in Toronto’s Jane Street neighbourhood. Her sound is deeply rooted in the people, cultures, and experiences that shaped her upbringing. Drawing from Afrobeats, alternative, R&B, and global sounds, Sumi’s sets reflect the cultural richness and energy of her community. Rest in power, Cashie Auguste 🙏🏽🕊️🤍

It breaks our hearts to see our youth in every headline like this. As it has been all over the news, our community is grieving heavily over the loss of our young resident, Cashie Auguste.

We are extending our deepest condolences to the family and friends affected by this. As a resident/youth-led team, we are currently working to connect with Cashie’s friends and family to listen and see how we can best support, honour, and celebrate his life. 

We will share announcements and resources on our stories about our next steps and how we can support the family. Please take a moment to read our statement to better understand our position.

As a community, let’s continue to come together to support one another, but most importantly, Cashie’s friends and family, during this time. May the festival be a space for you to come together and find solace.

For folks outside our community, the festival is a chance to see the true beauty of Jane & Finch beyond these headlines. It breaks our hearts to see our youth in every headline like this. As it has been all over the news, our community is grieving heavily over the loss of our young resident, Cashie Auguste.
We are extending our deepest condolences to the family and friends affected by this.

As a resident/youth-led team, we are currently working to connect with Cashie’s friends and family to listen and see how we can best support, honour, and celebrate his life. Our goal is to dedicate the festival in his name and honour, only if his family grants consent.
