✨ Week 4: Self-Confidence

This week, our Cohort 6 mentees explored self-confidence, the belief in their voices, visions, and ability to keep growing through uncertainty and process.

As they moved into post-production, mentees strengthened their confidence, communication, and professional skills while preparing to bring their creative visions to life. This week challenged them to trust their perspective, take up space, and stand behind the work they are creating.

Through each experience, they all continued building the confidence to share their voices and step boldly into their creative futures.

🖌️ Communications Design

How we communicate our work matters just as much as the work itself. In this workshop, mentees explored how design can shape the way an idea, brand, or creative identity is understood and experienced.

Through visual communication and design thinking, mentees explored how to create work that feels intentional, cohesive, and authentic to their brand. The session reinforced that design is more than aesthetics, it’s a powerful tool for storytelling and fostering connections.

🤝 Effective Networking

Creative opportunities often begin with a conversation. During Effective Networking, Kadiatu Barrie guided our mentees through the skills needed to confidently introduce themselves, communicate what they do, and build genuine professional relationships.

Our mentees explored how to approach networking with intention rather than simply collecting contact information, learning how to build meaningful relationships while staying authentic to themselves. Kadiatu emphasized the importance of taking up space, confidently sharing their voices, and recognizing the value they bring into every room they enter.

Week 3: Self-Validation

🌱This week, our Cohort 6 mentees explored self-validation—the practice of affirming their experiences, creativity, and sense of worth without relying on external approval.

As they continued developing their culminating projects, mentees learned to trust their creative instincts, strengthen their artistic voices, and move forward with greater confidence. Through business arts workshops and collaborative learning, they continued turning their ideas into reality while building creative practices rooted in authenticity and purpose.

🎭 Culturally Responsive Theatre

This workshop explored how theatre can be a tool for authentic storytelling, representation, and advocacy. Through discussion and performance-based exercises, mentees reflected on how identity, lived experience, and culture shape the stories they tell while embracing the power of showing up as their authentic selves.

🎨 Visual Arts Workshop

🎶 Songwriting Workshop

Every song begins with a story. Through lyric writing, collaboration, and creative exercises, mentees explored how music can transform personal experiences into meaningful storytelling while building confidence in their own voices and artistic expression.

🎥 Videography Workshop

Through hands-on learning and creative exploration, mentees developed foundational videography skills while learning how movement, framing, and composition can strengthen visual storytelling. The workshop encouraged participants to use video as a powerful tool to share their stories, showcase their work, and build their creative brands.
