SMP Dramatic Society

SMP Dramatic Society is a community theatre group based out of St Martin's Hall in North Vancouver, B.C., Canada, who produce a pantomime each January!

We are a community theatre group started in 1992, in North Vancouver, B.C., Canada. Since 1996, we have mounted a pantomime or cabaret every year. In 2003 we incorporated as a not-for-profit and became SMP Dramatic Society. We focus on teamwork and entertaining audiences of all ages! In 2004, after eight years of adult pantos we needed a new way to showcase the talents of our kids, and so we began

producing an annual youth-oriented show. The Director, cast members, and all backstage personnel were originally drawn from the children of SMP actors. These youthful members already had several years experience on stage, and so were immediately successful. Soon friends, then friends of friends, became involved and so our numbers have increased and diversified. We take joy in bringing live theatre to our community, and we have a lot of fun doing it. Our favourite production? Always the next one!

Audition signups are open for SMP's upcoming youth production of Snow White. Auditions are being held next Sunday for youth ages 12 -21. Please share the audition call out with any one you may feel would be interested. No acting experience is necessary! We encourage everyone interested to try out, and as a youth production, it will be a fun introduction to performance for youth whose opportunities may have been limited over the past few pandemic years. And, as a special bonus in these inflationary times, there is no cost to participate! Send an email to [email protected] if you have any questions or would like to sign up for an audition time slot

SMP is on the move - need a costume for Halloween? Always wanted a purple wig? Now's your chance!

With St. Martins Church closing, we need to be out of our rental space by the end of October, and will be having a "Community Theatre Give-Away Day" on Saturday, October 15th, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM. We will meet by the downstairs storage area of the St. Martins Hall, 195 Windsor Rd. Come and take what you want, by donation.

Spread the word - family, friends, neighbours, teachers, wanna be theatre stars - come one come all.

2nd weekend of shows are about to begin for "RAPUNZEL: The Pantomime" and our cast and crew feel ready for the primetime! For the local craft beer fans, so is our concession! is our brew of choice for the run of the show, and we are proudly pouring their North Shore Pale Ale, and their Lager!!
