🛍When are we accepting donations?
Tuesday August 11th - Tuesday, August 25th!

🛍Where to donate?
Here at the Kéxwusm-áyakn Student Centre LB196, CSU Library Lounge LB195, Career Development Centre LB170, and the Centre for International Experience LB127!

🛍What to donate?
- All clothing items accepted (No intimates please)
- Shoes, boots, heels, sandals etc,.
- All types of bags!
- All Accessories!
- Small household items

All donations will go towards the Let's Get Thrifty - Free Market 2.0!!

🧡 VISION BOARDS EDITION 🧡

▪️What are Weekly Student Gatherings?
A student-led initiative by our ambassadors here at the Kéxwusm-áyakn student centre! These weekly gatherings provide a safe and low barrier space where you can just show up as you are and connect with the community!

▪️When and where are they?
Every Friday from 2-4pm at the Kéxwusm-áyakn student centre!

▪️What kind of activities will there be?
So much room for activities!! Every week the activities vary! Some examples of activities in the past are vision boards, making smoothies and going for a walk together, making wild flower bouquets and this Friday we are having a movie night!

▪️Who can join?
ANYONE! ALL students, faculty and staff are encouraged and allowed to join in!

Introducing Catherine Pascal ⭐️

Hello everyone!

My name is Catherine Pascal. I am from the Bear Clan and a proud member of the Lil'wat Nation.

I am honored to serve as the Indigenous Community Engagement Facilitator at Capilano University. For more than 16 years, I have worked alongside Indigenous communities in employment, training, and community engagement, always guided by respect, relationship-building, cultural humility, and community protocols.
Outside of work, I have a passion for competitive sports, especially floor hockey, soccer, and fastball. I also love spending time in nature, whether it's hiking, exploring the outdoors, or simply appreciating the beauty of the land.

My passion is creating welcoming spaces where Indigenous students feel seen, supported, and connected. Whether you're looking for a place to ask questions, explore opportunities, connect with culture, or simply have a conversation, my door is always open.

As we move into a new term, we would love to hear about your experience in the Student Centre, with our team and at Capilano University.

Meet our Indigenous Student Ambassadors 🌻

Introducing Sam Damm and Willow Laronde ✨

Aanii!
My name is Sam Damm. I am Ojibwa from Chippewas of Nawash, Neyashiingmiing unceded First Nation and Venezuelan but I grew up in Ottawa, Ontario doing many sports including BMX racing, Squash, Boxing and riding dirt bikes with my brothers. I am now an Alumni of the Indigenous Digital Filmmaking program and heading into my last year in Motion Picture Arts to get her Bachelors Degree in Film. I am passionate about music, movies, photography and anything action sports related. After I graduate I hope to work in film, shooting action sports and work with Indigenous communities and create films that bring people joy. I am beyond stoked to be working in the Kéxwusm-áyakn Student Centre and to meet you! I hope I can create a presence that makes you feel welcome and to create initiatives that best support you and your wants and needs!

My name is Willow Laronde I’m Anishinaabekwe from Teme Augama Anishinabek, Hoof Clan. I’m a mature student in my second year of the Psychology Major Program here at Capilano University and absolutely love it. I’m really passionate about community. My goal is to create, sustain and build healthy and supportive connections, especially within our Indigenous communities. I’m thrilled to be a part of the Office of Indigenous Education and Affairs team. Being an Indigenous Student Ambassador here at Capilano University means the world to me. I look forward to contributing to our Indigenous community here by collaborating and curating student-led initiatives that support and uplift other Indigenous students on their post secondary education journeys.
