Moose update (3pm)

Thanks to a multi-agency approach, the cow and calf moose have been safely coralled by Conservation Officers and will be transported to an area far outside the city.

Thank you to RCMP, CSOs, Conservation Officers, and the Fire Department for their efforts to make sure not only the public but these animals remained safe.

We have recently received some concerns and thoughts about an upcoming rental at our building. Moving forward, the Battlefords Wildlife Federation will put in place language around advertising to those wishing to rent our building for a function in the hopes of avoiding any misconceptions about our involvement or support for the event in question.

The Battlefords Wildlife Federation has a long, proud history rooted in Saskatchewan’s communities — a history built on stewardship, conservation, and bringing people together. Our organization has always tried to be a unifying force, one that reflects the shared heritage of both Indigenous and non Indigenous residents who care deeply about this land. We understand that some members of the community may be struggling to understand why a movement focused on division and separation would be given space to host a meeting in our building.

Unfortunately, to own a building like ours, it needs to generate some income to pay for maintenance, taxes, cleaning, etc. We have to rent it out and do not screen the requests at the time of booking. An individual calls and books the building and hosts their event and must comply with all provincial and municipal legislation. We were not aware of this advertisement and the suggestive wording used by the organizers until we received the poster last night.

Again, moving forward, the Battlefords Wildlife Federation will put in place language around advertising to those wishing to rent our building for a function in the hopes of avoiding any misconceptions about our involvement or support for the event in question.
