While he’s busy thanking everyone else, we all need to give this man the biggest thank you, because quite frankly, the club wouldn’t exist without him. Brad has served as the president for 9, going on 10 years. He does 90% of the work himself and it eats up more of his personal and family time than most could imagine. He has a hand in every aspect, from the paper work and district requirements, the budgeting, the planning and coordinating, the groomer maintenance and repairs, the trail work, the signage, the politics and land use permits, and most years, the grooming too. Most of this is completely volunteer. He even got out of bed one night this winter at 3:30 am (with a bad stomach flu) and rode a sled up the hydro line to rescue our groomer operator and then returned the next day (still sick) to get the groomer operational. So thanks to Brad!

Well, with the majority of the trails now closed across the province for the season, I figured it was time for an update. What a great season it was, and I cannot thank everyone who contributed to our success; from our land owners, volunteers, groomer operators (especially John Miller putting in over 350hrs himself), Ron and Nick B for opening our challenging terrain, Rickward's Polaris & Small Motors for the use of the new Polaris Titan that was used all season long on our trail system, our district admin Kim, Bowman Construction keeping our Groomer on the snow, as well as helping neighbouring clubs, Town of Parry Sound . Parry Sound Area Chamber of Commerce and Parry Sound Downtown Business Association for their help getting the trail into town on the map, my wife for her understanding and support as well as taking care of our young family all hours of the day and night during the season especially during break downs and change in plans when problems occurred and to anyone else I may have forgot—thank you very much.

We hope you and your families were able to get out and enjoy some snowmobiling. We had an abundance of positive feedback this year and that really goes a long way. The help from our volunteers, that starts well before trails open and continues well after the trails close, is a very large reason our club succeeds and continues to improve year after year.

The majority of your year end trail work has been completed and once we complete the rest of the year end tasks such as groomer inspections, lists of repairs needed, wash and complete storage requirements, sort, organize and put together next years signage orders etc we hope to have a year end meeting and get together.

Then next seasons task will begin starting with land use agreements, budgets, and tackle some very important and necessary trail work that can be carried out during the nice weather.

Here are a few pictures from the season to look back on, please feel free to post any you may have!!

Thanks again to everyone and we hope you have a great summer!!

Brad

Well folks, I left the area for a few days and appears I have came back to a completely different season from when I left. It was sad to see how so much of our hard work disappeared so quickly. I hope to get out for a ride and see just how bad our trails are in the next day or 2, but speaking with other local clubs, it does not sound good. Lots of flooding on the trails, snow bridges are giving away and lakes are quickly becoming slushy messes. There is some colder weather and snow in the forecast but if what others are saying is true, it does not sound like there’s much hope. We will monitor the cold weather and snow we receive and see if we can work any kind of magic and extend the season, even if just on a few trails so that we can all get at least one last ride in. Fingers crossed and we will keep everyone in the loop.

As always, please check the ITG before you venture out.

Well the crew has been hard at it again all week! One big maintenance day on the groomer and drag, big thanks to the boys in the shop!John M has put in some long days and all of our trails have had at least one pass since the weekend and with the fresh snow things shaped up nicely, real nicely! The Polaris Snowmobiles Titan from Rickward's Polaris & Small Motors has been hard at work as well. Mike Z was out maintaining a few portages and trails and Charlie and I took wood out to the warm up shack and fixed up a few trails as well.
We had someone remove a few lake stakes over the weekend. Please, for the sake of everyone’s safety, never remove any signage or lake stakes and if you do see anything missing, please let someone from our club know ASAP. Also, when parking your snowmobile, especially in town, please move the snowmobile off the trail or off to the side as much as possible. John could not get down the trail passed Boston Pizza earlier this week, as a large group of sleds parked directly on the trail.

Hopefully tomorrow stays cooler than the forecast is calling for and we have another great few days of riding.

As always, please refer to the ofsc itg for the most current trail conditions.

Hello Folks!
Just figured it’s been a little while, and we would check in before the long weekend. We have been continuously working on the trails and are happy and proud that we have been able to upgrade the majority of our trails to green. We have all trails except the 405 that we are still battling water problems with and a small section of the 406 still needs to be cut available.
This season we had trails open the earliest we have in a few years, have seen a lot of traffic which I am very happy to see and lots of green on the ITG not just in our club, throughout the entire district. With our husky going pretty well every day ( thanks John) trying to cover our entire trail system we have faced a fair amount of breakdowns and have to give a big shout out to our entire team doing everything we can keeping it going.
Would also like to thank Mike, Dave and Matthew for going out a couple weeks ago and cutting a section of the 412 trail reroute to get riders and volunteers onto our trail system. Also again a big thanks to Rickward's Polaris & Small Motors for the use of the Titan snowmobile. We have been using it to groom some tricky areas, but especially need it on the 412 as we cannot get a full-size machine there. The machine has been a massive help from the start packing trails, staking lakes, bringing tools and supplies to help fix Groomers, grooming trails, bringing firewood to the shack and the list goes on!
I hope everyone has been able to get out and enjoy our trails and hopefully the cooler weather holds on for the long weekend. There is a few warm days in the forecast but the temperatures are dropping and more snow is in the forecast following the warm up.
I hope everyone has a great safe and enjoyable long weekend! Please remember there will be lots of family’s on the trail so slow down, ride responsibly and respectfully.

As always please refer to the OFSC’s ITG for the latest updates and conditions and post some pictures out enjoying the trails!

Well folks,
Coming into our last weekend of January with some mighty cold weather and a very large section of our trails available for everyone to enjoy. We are still fighting a few battles, but I am very happy and proud of our team to get where we are now. We were even able to help our neighbours out and get the trail into Pointe Au Baril and up to the Naiscoot done with the drag after they opened it. We had a few breakdowns and the boys were able to fix us up quickly and yesterday we were called to help another Club with a Groomer that had the fuel system freeze up. It was a battle in the cold temperatures, but we pushed through. We were able to get it running and back to our shop.
Huge thanks once again to Bowman Construction and his crew for dropping everything they had going on to fix us up and keep our machine on the trail. With running long days, almost every day, breakdowns are bound to happen and we appreciate all the help. We’re really struggling with only having one groomer this season, instead of the two we’ve had for 30+ years. John M is trying his best, putting in some crazy long days (like yesterday leaving his house before 9 AM and not arriving back until 2:30 AM the next morning), if you see him out there please give him a wave and a big thumbs up.
We are still fighting a water problem on the 405. We need to do some trail work on sections of the 406 and the new 412 trail, hence why they are not available yet. Everything else on our system is available so if you’re in the area get out and enjoy the trails. Be safe, ride responsibly, and remember the trails for the most part are still limited so ride accordingly and as always, refer back to the ITG for the latest trail conditions.

Incase you were curious— the warm up shack is open for the season! We want to thank everyone who made this destination possible, it’s a great place for hanging out with family and meeting new friends and fellow snowmobilers (and maybe roasting a s’more or two!) As we move into the season, please feel free to share your pictures of you and your friends/ family enjoying our trails and the warm up shack, we’d love to see them! ‘Grandpa’ Ron finished his yearly opening duties with the groomer on the weekend and met us out at Charlie’s ‘favourite place’ for a marshmallow.
