SENIOR CHARLIE IS OFF TO THE DENTIST!

Our handsome senior gentleman Charlie is heading off to visit our wonderful friends at Parkland Veterinary Clinic for some much-needed dental care!

At 10 years young, Charlie is getting a little TLC to make sure those pearly whites (or what’s left of them after today! 😂) are in tip-top shape.

Dental care is such an important part of keeping our senior dachshunds happy, healthy, and comfortable. Sometimes that means saying goodbye to a few troublesome teeth!

We’re so grateful to the amazing team at Parkland Veterinary Clinic for always taking such wonderful care of our rescue babies. ❤️

Let’s send Charlie some love, positive vibes, and wishes for a smooth procedure and speedy recovery!

And Charlie, don’t worry, buddy… soft food and extra cuddles are definitely on the menu!

This Thanksgiving, we're thankful for second chances — and fourth ones.

Meet Oscar, one of the crew gathered around Dean here. Oscar's road hasn't been easy. He's been let down more than once — homes that weren't the right fit, people who gave up on him. By the time he came back to us, he was nearly out of chances.

But Oscar was never the problem. Oscar just needed the right home.

Today he's safe in foster with Dean, part of a happy little pack, while we find his forever. Because that's what rescue really is: not just finding a dog a home, but finding them the correct home.

And that's exactly why we don't do first-come, first-served adoptions.

The first application in the pile isn't always the best fit. Every dog has their own story, their own quirks, their own needs — and every home is different. We take the time to match them, because when the fit is wrong, it's the dog who pays for it. Just ask Oscar.

A special thank-you to Dean — our main contact in the Grande Prairie area, who opened his home (and his kitchen) to Oscar and this whole happy crew.

This Thanksgiving, we're grateful for our fosters, for adopters patient enough to wait for the right match, and for everyone who believes a dog deserves another chance.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Alberta Dachshund Rescue. 🧡

Currently Sookie has a family pending

ADOPTABLE: Sookie

Meet Sookie (7) — a sweet, loving dachshund who will steal your heart before you even realize it.

Sookie lives for cuddles, and belly rubs are her absolute favourite. Stop petting her and she'll stomp her little back feet to let you know: "Excuse me, I'm not finished yet!"

She loves her walks, is fully house trained (not a single accident in her foster home!), and sleeps beautifully in her kennel — though her favourite spot is in bed with you.

She's wonderful with adults and older teens once she trusts you. She's been good with the dogs she's met — slow introductions are her thing — and she's learning that cats aren't the enemy. Because of her past, she'd do best in an adult home where she can feel safe and understood.

She's getting her dental today and will be ready to go! If you can give Sookie the love, patience, and endless cuddles she deserves, she'll give you her whole heart in return — along with plenty of belly-rub requests and those adorable little back-foot stomps.

Thank you to everyone who offered help- we found a place for her.

From the bottom of our hearts we can’t thank you enough. It’s because of our amazing team of fosters that we can help give these little soules the second and third chances in life they so deserve!

Urgent foster needed

Six years ago, we adopted out a little red girl. Her mom has ended up in the hospital and can no longer care for her, so she's coming back to us.

She's paralyzed and needs a foster who can handle her care. She's currently in the Edmonton area but can move to the right home.

This photo is from four years ago — help us get her back to happy. Can you foster her? DM us. Please share.

ANA & THEO ARE STILL WAITING FOR THEIR PERFECT MATCH

These two are still hanging out in their foster home in the Edmonton area, waiting for the right family to find them.

And according to Theo, there are a few requirements that are non-negotiable.

THEO — President of the Stay-Home Club

Theo needs someone who understands that his love has to be earned.

He needs time to watch you, figure you out and decide that you’re worthy. Once he feels safe and confident, that’s when you get to see the sweet boy underneath.

Theo says:

🏡 No busy households
👧 No younger children — they move WAY too fast for his liking
⏰ Give him time and let him come to you
🛋️ Social outings? No thank you. He’d much rather stay home with his people, snacks and a comfy couch.

He absolutely loves his sister Ana, and honestly, that’s enough companionship for him. He doesn’t need other pets in his new home, but a calm, respectful animal that gives him his space could potentially work.

And then there’s Ana…

ANA — 12 YEARS OLD AND STILL READY FOR THE PARTY

Apparently nobody told Ana she’s a senior.

She still plays, enjoys her walks and is always ready to be involved in whatever you’re doing.

Daily walks? Yes.
Couch cuddles? Absolutely.
Keeping the backyard free from birds and squirrels? She will personally take responsibility for that department.

Cats, however, are a different story.

Ana shows WAYYYYY too much interest in her foster home’s cat. Even after plenty of time together, they still cannot safely be left unsupervised. A cat-free home would be the best choice for this pair.

Together, Ana and Theo are looking for a quieter home where they can enjoy their retirement exactly the way they want it:

❤️ Their people
❤️ Daily walks
❤️ Comfy couches
❤️ Snacks
❤️ A little playtime
❤️ Lots of love
❤️ And absolutely no pressure for Theo to become a social butterfly

They’re not looking for the busiest house or the biggest adventure.

They’re looking for their house. Their people. Their couch.

📍 Currently fostered in the Edmonton area.

Think you might be the quiet, patient home Ana & Theo have been waiting for? Submit an adoption application to Alberta Dachshund Rescue.

**Well… look who wiggled her way into the ADR family!**

Everyone meet **Sookie!**

Sookie is **7 years young**, absolutely adorable, and currently wondering who all these new people are and why they keep talking to her in ridiculous baby voices.

We’re just starting to get to know this little lady, so right now her only job is to **decompress, relax and let that little snow globe in her head settle.**

No interviews.
No dating profiles.
No pressure.
Just snacks, naps and figuring out her new surroundings. ❤

Once Sookie has had some time to settle, we’ll be heading to the vet for the full ADR spa package — a good check-up, vaccines brought up to date and all the usual things that come along with being a **7-year-old dachshund.**

And yes… we said **7-year-old dachshund.**

So naturally, somewhere in Alberta, a veterinarian is already sharpening their dental tools. 🦷😂💸

For now, **we are NOT accepting applications for Sookie.** We need some time to figure out who she is, what she needs and what kind of home will eventually be her perfect match.

Until then, welcome to the crazy little ADR family, **Sookie!**

Stay tuned… something tells us this little lady may have a personality we’re going to hear ALL about.
