Nipawin Secret Santa

Today was a very bitter sweet day for me. I’ve been feeling a bit guilty for not running this year. Though I know logically the reasons we chose not to make sense , you can’t reason with your heart. This project was my baby the amount of joy it brought me was worth every bit of stress, worry, and every sleepless nights.

We brought the leftovers from last year to the The Salvation Army Nipawin to be used for their Christmas hampers. Also dropping off a tote to both Central Park Elementary, and Wagner Elementary School for their Christmas stores.

After many hours of consideration, and deliberation the decision was made to not run Secret Santa for the Christmas of 2024. This decision was not made lightly, with last year’s decline in donations and people accessing the service both included in the decision making process. We will reassess after Christmas to decide if we will be back in the future. In the meantime we encourage people to donate to the Salvation Army’s Christmas program or another organization if looking to help.

We had a bit of a crazy week but at the end are proud to announce we gave out 200 gifts to 72 families!! Thanks so much to everyone who took everyone who took the time to help make this happen!!

Due to the amazing generosity of our community, we have more donations than expected. Because of this we are able to open up to out of towners, with children newborn to age 10, and must be in your direct care.

If you’re able to come in on Wednesday Dec. 6th or Thursday Dec. 7th please follow the link to the Family Resource Centre’s website and sign up or message the Nipawin Secret Santa’s page.

Secret Santa is offering a digital sign up option this year. Sign up below to come pick out gifts for your kids aged 10 and under, child must be in your care and must be a Nipawin Resident. If you are unable to sign up digitally a paper copy is available at the FRC.
