on nuclear energy has come with new fire protection and emergency preparedness challenges. This forum provides an opportunity to discuss these changes in the interest of improving fire safety and emergency preparedness in both new and operating nuclear power plants (NPPs), as well as Small Modular Reactors, research facilities, decommissioned facilities, uranium production and mining facilities. FSEP 2025 is again being constructed with Sponsors and Exhibitors in mind. The previous conferences were
supported by prominent organizations within the nuclear community and have attracted representatives from Canada, USA, India, Germany, Korea, UK, and Romania. The FSEP 2025 Conference will emphasize the sharing and exchange of information between the nuclear industry, fire protection and emergency preparedness specialists, suppliers and service providers, government representatives and officials, community, fire protection and Emergency Preparedness students and other stakeholders in fire protection and emergency management in the nuclear industry. This premier international event is expected to attract a diverse audience of over one hundred specialists from Canada, the USA, Europe, and Asia, with over fifty plenary and technical presentations. Plenary Speaker Announcement: Another informative and captivating Plenary Presentation for FSEP 2023 is being presented by Roger Shepard, from the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization (NBEMO).

Roger Shepard currently serves as the Manager of the New Brunswick Nuclear Preparedness Program with the NBEMO, New Brunswick Department of Justice and Public Safety.

Having served an inspiring 35 plus years in the Canadian Forces from 1978 to 2014, Roger Shepard's knowledge and experience have made him a champion of nuclear preparedness. Formerly the Joint Task Force Atlantic Provincial Liaison Officer to NBEMO, Roger has been the Manager of the New Brunswick Nuclear Preparedness Program since June of 2012. The FSEP planning committee is honored to have esteemed professionals like Roger Shepard part of the Plenary Speaker Program.

The FSEP 2023 is pleased to announce that we have secured another outstanding plenary speaker for our upcoming conference - Dr Diego F. Lisbona, Principal Inspector and The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) acting Professional Lead for Internal Hazards and Site Safety.

Dr Lisbona is a highly esteemed Chemical Engineer with a Doctorate in Chemical Engineering from the prestigious University of Nottingham. With over a decade of experience in major hazards and safety, Dr Lisbona brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table. He has worked in various roles across the UK nuclear new build and non-nuclear sectors, including as a Major Hazards specialist at the Fire and Process Safety Unit of the UK’s Health and Safety Laboratory/ Health and Safety Executive.

At ONR, Dr Lisbona has played a critical role in the delivery of its commitments under the 2018 Nuclear Sector Deal, providing advice to the UK Government on innovative reactor designs. He led the capability development work that enabled ONR to assess and evaluate seven advanced fission reactor proposals, taking part in the Advanced Modular Reactors Feasibility and Development project.

Dr Lisbona is currently the project lead at ONR, coordinating the UK’s contribution to the European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group (ENSREG) Topical Peer Review 2, covering Fire Protection from 2022 through to 2024.
