The Koocanusa Recreation Steering Committee (KRSC) is seeking public comment on its Draft 2021 Koocanusa Recreation Strategy, which strives to support and manage Crown land recreation access and use in a way that maintains the ecological integrity, cultural values, aesthetic appeal and economic value of the Koocanusa area for current and future users. On Jan. 8, 2021, the B.C. government will release an independent report outlining preliminary costs, benefits and impacts related to the feasibility of building a weir across Koocanusa Reservoir. The study was commissioned by the Province in response to some local resident concerns about Koocanusa water levels. The Province will hold a Virtual Town Hall on Jan. 12, 2021 at 7pm Mountain Time to share the results of the study and seek feedback.
