National AccessAbility Week is a time to celebrate the individuals and organizations that are driving meaningful change for persons with disabilities.

This year's theme is "Building a Strong, Accessible Canada".

At the NWHS we continue to work towards building a Compassionate Community where everyone has an equal opportunity to reach their full potential.

Summer is on the way and hotter temperatures are already here!

Stay safe and cool with these tips:

🫗 Drink plenty of water

🚗 NEVER leave people or pets in a parked car

😎 Protect yourself by using
sunscreen and wearing protective clothing and UV-protective eyewear

🌳 Seek cooler areas when outdoors and know your local cooling centres

💊 Know your personal health risks, talk to your doctor if you are on any medication or have pre-existing conditions

Connect with 20+ local organizations supporting healthy, independent living. Learn about housing, food programs, aging in place, social opportunities, technology, and future planning.

Spring cleaning is in full swing and if you've been putting off your closet - here is your sign to wait no longer!

The New West Hospice Society is hosting a Clothing Drive in partnership with Big Brother's of Greater Vancouver.

Drop Off Location: 318 Pine Street, New Westminster

Drop off your lightly used clothing, accessories, shoes, and linens and we'll take care of the rest!

That's a wrap on RIverWalk 2026!

Thank you to everyone who joined us, walked with us, and supported the work of the New West Hospice Society!

The collective care of our Compassionate Community raised over $19,000 for hospice programs!

2026 is our 10th Anniversary!

This month we are looking back to October 2017 and the very first RiverWalk!

On an October evening, our Compassionate Community met at the Tin Soldier on the River Market boardwalk. Carrying blue lanterns, they walked down to Pier Park and the Big W, coming together to "Shine a Light on Hospice".

Our organization was new, the need in our community was great, and our Compassionate City raised a little over $5000.
