Fireworks (Summer Lights) Bike Ride (Friday July 31)

Meet at Century House at 6:30 PM

Leave Century House promptly at 6:45 PM

Distance: Approximately 50 km round trip

Event time estimate: about 6 hours (including 1 hour at Vanier Park and stops)

Cycling speed: 10 - 12 km/hour. No one is left behind.

Both human-powered and electric bikes are welcomed.

Route: Almost entirely on official bicycle routes including the BC Parkway (to Central Park in Burnaby and John Hendry Park in Vancouver), 10th Avenue Corridor (to Vanier Park), and 10th Avenue Corridor, Ontario Bikeway, Ridgeway Bikeway and BC Parkway (back to Century House).

If you do not wish to start in New Westminster, you can meet the group in Burnaby at Central Park Public Washrooms (near the Central Park Playground) between 7:30 pm and 7:45 pm or in Vancouver at the John Hendry Park Concession (next to Trout Lake) between 8:15 pm & 8:30 pm.

Please note that the return to New Westminster will pass through Central Park BUT NOT John Hendry Park.

Also, please be aware that after the fireworks, we will be cycling within large crowds of people and it will be impossible for the group to remain together. The group will rendezvous at the southeast corner of Cypress Street & West 10th Avenue before returning to New Westminster. To reach the meeting point, it is recommended that you cycle south along Maple Street (which parallels Cypress Street to the west) until West 8th Avenue and then onto Cypress Street.

Also, expect bicycles to be prohibited on SkyTrain after the fireworks.

Participants must agree to HUB Cycling's Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, Assumption of Risks and Indemnity Agreement included in this Eventbrite registration, must wear a helmet during the ride and must have a bicycle in good working condition with front and rear lights for the ride.

Got questions? Please email [email protected].
