Please note that no more Let’s Talk LOUD sessions are being offered due to the decision to dissolve IMPACT Parkinson’s Society.

For other Parkinson’s specific voice programs with Speech Language Pathologists check out the following list. ** IMPORTANT: Please note that if there is a cost for any of the programs and if you have Extended Health Benefits for speech/voice therapy it does not necessarily mean that it will be eligible for coverage. It is up to you to determine if it is. Especially if you receive services from outside of BC.**

January 2024 Announcement:

With mixed feelings, the time has come to dissolve IMPACT Parkinson’s Society. We started our journey supporting people and their families living with Parkinson’s in 2015. It has been many wonderful years. We have laughed and cried and met such amazing people, many of whom we call our friends. We thank each and everyone of you who supported us along the way. The process will see the dissolution taking place by the end of March 2024.

We are honoured to support the very important work that Seniors Services Society provides seniors in the community.

This sponsorship was made possible by one of our Parkinson’s fighters, Sue Sayer. Sue lived in New Westminster and was very proud of her community. She enjoyed a glass of red wine and this Red Wine Sponsor seemed like something Sue would love.

Seniors Services Society of BC Gratefully Announces Impact Parkinsons as Wine Sponsor for Gala!

Impact Parkinsons' generous sponsorship will add an extra touch of elegance and enjoyment to our Gala. We are immensely grateful for their support, as it underscores their dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of our seniors and the community at large.

For further event details and to secure your tickets, please visit our website at https://www.seniorsservicessociety.ca/events/. Let us come together and show our seniors that they are valued, respected, and cherished members of our community.

Excited to share that IMPACT Parkinson’s is one of the sponsors of the upcoming Seniors Services Society 2023 Gala “Age is Just a Number”. We are the red wine sponsor.

We acknowledge one of our amazing fighters against Parkinson’s, Sue “Slugger” Sayer (1963 - 2019), who made this sponsorship possible.

Sue was active in her community of New Westminster and loved volunteering and giving back. We raise a glass to you Sue 🍷.

Please considering supporting the gala and its fundraising efforts in any way you can - attend, donate or sponsor or do all three!

Congratulations to our Let’s Talk LOUD client, Carlota Lee, for her successful fundraiser that happened today! She exceeded her original goal of $20,000 and is now at $41,626. All funds are being donated to Parkinson Canada for Women and Parkinson’s.

IMPACT Parkinson’s is happy to support this fundraiser with a $500.00 donation. And this donation was made possible due to one of our long time clients, Sue “Slugger” Sayer, who bequeathed funds to us to continue supporting collective efforts to provide much needed programs, research and advocacy for Parkinson's initiatives. ♥️

“People often think Parkinson's is just tremors, but it is unique to the individual and unique to everyone, and women often experience it differently. This is why education and building support is essential. We must keep the conversation going and support women in every single endeavour.” Carlota Lee

“I have been an active marathon runner and fundraiser for many years. However, in 2019, my life changed with a Parkinson's diagnosis. Since then, everything I do is slower, and I have had to adjust to new limitations. But despite these challenges, I remain committed to ensuring that doing what I can to support Women With Parkinson’s.”

Carlota discovered women are underrepresented in Parkinson’s research and that women with Parkinson’s experience risk.

She is an influential woman that is deeply passionate about building relationships, organizing events, and raising critical funds to support the Women for Parkinson’s initiative. She has already helped raise $425,000 for research through another event called Porridge for Parkinson’s.

Women for Parkinson’s is Parkinson Canada’s national network of dynamic and influential women. They come together to raise their voices and fundraise to support researchers working on Parkinson’s disease.

Get the most out of your time with your doctor!

Peer facilitators lead this 1.5 hour interactive workshop to empower patients to be active participants in their health care. An active patient asks questions, voices concerns and has opinions about their care which they share with their doctor(s) and other healthcare professionals. Using the PACE framework, we explore common challenges with doctor-patient interactions and learn techniques on how to improve them.
