We would like to share a brief update on the situation in Bangladesh and its impact on our operations. The country is currently facing a national energy crisis, with government measures in place to reduce electricity use, including limiting the operation of educational institutions. These directives apply nationwide, and rural areas such as Natore have been particularly affected due to more frequent load shedding.
At the same time, early seasonal flooding in parts of the country is placing additional strain on communities, especially those dependent on agriculture. Power shortages are disrupting irrigation for key crops, while flooding has damaged fields nearing harvest, increasing financial pressure on many families.
Farhana School and the orphanage have been directly impacted and are currently operating at limited capacity while closely following government guidance. As a result, our planned expansion, including the addition of Grade 6, will be temporarily delayed until the situation stabilizes. We are also monitoring recent government announcements regarding changes to the education system to ensure we are prepared moving forward.
We sincerely appreciate the continued support and understanding from our Maria Orphanage Society donors, friends, and followers during this challenging time.
Attached are two recent photos taken while the school was open.
