Stone Church Restoration Society We are a not for profit society with the aim of obtaining the former St. Alphonsus Stone Church in Ca The St. We humbly request your support .

The Stone Church Restoration Society, has been set up with the aim of obtaining the building and restoring it to semblance of its former self. Our intent is on keeping the edifice as a landmark on the shores of Sydney Harbour,Cape Breton,Nova Scotia, Canada. The Stone Church Restoration Society is looking at a five to ten year plan to complete restoration of the exterior and interior structure of

the building utilizing appropriate, qualified, local personnel, along with volunteers. Alphonsus building has been a fixed structure on the shores of Sydney Harbour for almost one hundred years. Its’ proposed demolition has generated a great deal of angst among the residents of Cape Breton as well as concerned persons from across Canada.We believe the retention and restoration of the edifice, within a community based group, will go a long way towards healing the “loss of self” related to the recent closures of multiple churches within the Cape Breton area. We see its’ retention and restoration as an asset to Cape Breton. We also feel that the high visibility of the building on the Sydney Harbour entry will continue to be a positive experience for our cruise ship industry.
