Your Cape Breton Ramblerettes were back in action this weekend for The 2026 New Waterford Dodgers Girls of Summer Baseball Classic.

We opened a rainy Saturday morning taking on The North Nova Highlanders of Antigonish. Taytum Donato pitched a complete game shutout to lead her team to a 12-0 mercy rule win after 4 innings. Mazie Hawkins picked up a Player of the Game nod hitting a 3 RBI one hop bomb off the fence for a no doubt in the park home run. The girls hit their 3 run max for all 4 innings of the contest.

Second game of the day saw The Ramblerettes up against The New Waterford Dodgers (Pink). Ava Swan got the start on the mound and was relieved by Annalise Gillis. On offence; the girls continued to hammer the 3 run max for all 5 of their opportunities at the plate. The Ramblerettes took game 2 by a score of 15-7. Player of the game was Julia Moore.

An overcast Sunday afternoon saw us matched up against The New Waterford Dodgers (Blue) who went 3-0 in their lead up to Sunday afternoon; setting up a defacto championship game to close the weekend. Brielle MacBurnie came out with a vengeance striking out the first 6 batters she faced. She would pitch into the 5th inning with her team leading 4-0 and tally a total of 11 K’s along the way. Mazie Hawkins took the hill in the 5th and closed out the 6th with a 1,2,3 strikeout knockout punch. The Ramblerettes would hold their early lead and go on to win 4-3. Player of the game was Brielle MacBurnie.

Weekend MVP for your Ramblerettes was Maddie Otoole

Weekend Heart and Hustle was Morgan Blinkhorn.

The Ramblerettes mirror their start from last season to improve to a red hot 5-0 sending shock waves through their division.

The girls will host their home opener Saturday June 20th on Pitt Street in Sydney Mines against The East Hants Nationals for a doubler header. First pitch is 12pm.

Go Ramblerettes!

It was another beautiful evening in Dominion, Nova Scotia for a Baseball Nova Scotia 14U AAA Girl’s game. Your Ramblerettes took on The New Waterford Dodgers (Pink).

A short bench for the Northside squad with 9 on the lineup card. The girls came to score runs; hitting the 3 run per inning cap in all 6 frames for a perfect score of 18. All 9 in blue and pink would touch home at least once to make it a true team effort.

Mazie Hawkins and Maddie Otoole showed why they’re consistently batting 2-3; scoring 4 runs each in the campaign.

Zoey Targett got the start for the Ramblerettes pitching 2 and 1/3 innings. She would tally 5 K’s and leave the game with her team up 6 runs.

Morgan Blinkhorn took the ball and went 1 and 2/3 innings recording 2 strikeouts while allowing only 2 runs.

Annalise Gillis stepped into a closing role with her team in a position to win for the 5th and 6th inning. She would contribute 5 K’s and allow only 2 runs.

Ramblerettes pickup their second win 18-7 to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Next game is Saturday June 13th at The Jackie Tucker Ballfield in New Waterford where The Ramblerettes take on The North Nova Highlanders.

Please share with anyone you think might be interested in learning how to operate the score clock at the field. Dave Ellsworth has generously offered to do a little training session on Sunday. We will then put a call list together and have it available on our page and at the canteen so teams can book them for games or tournaments.

Please note: You must be 16 or older and you must have a good knowledge of baseball.
