Check in from Edinburgh Scotland

It has been really great here so far. My pipes are tuned up and sounding better than ever, I’ve improved foundational skills (I’m working on striking in properly and then a clean cut off this afternoon) and tips and techniques for memorizing music and timings.
And getting to mix with some high calibre players is incredible.
Thank you to all who helped this dream come true!

Happy Friday .
Ok. Another Garden Reflection moment.
Two takeways from our AGTTC garden that are key for navigating life:
1. Sometimes too much protection can lead to dependancy. Things DO need to be nurtured to promote healthy growth. But sometimes if we OVER protect, we create a dependancy to thrive, even if it is unintentional. Notice that the garden is protected from the elements by a roof. But that also means, even when it rains, it still depends on US to water it.

2. Notice how when we fill the garden with a variety of things we want, it becomes filled with colourfully endless expression. As we nurture these and they take over, there is less room for the undesirable weeds. There will always be some. But notice how much they are overshadowed by the good stuff we planted.

Take a moment and reflect on how these 2 things can be seen in your life. Nurture yourself. Insight is our water for growth.

Life is like a Garden.
It has been a few months since James committed to planting the AGTTC garden. What has been fascinating was noticing how it has truly become a microcosm for our lives in general. At fist there was nothing. maybe some isolated weeds here and there or a plant barely hanging on from a life long past its prime. No real direction, purpose or relevance. But then James saw something through the nothingness. There was nothing there but hope. That hope translated into careful though of what would be nice there, then intentionally seeking those things out. Not getting everything perfect, but compromising on whats available and adjusting the vision. Then planting them in a cold desolate wasteland. No preexisting support, no relationship or connection except for the daily watering and tending to, which was a lot in the beginning when they totally depended on it just to survive. As they survived, they grew, starting to take shape and developing their identity, maybe leaning to the left or right, their leaves sprouting in unique shapes. They started to need less care but occasional watering was still important. Eventually weeds would creep in as we lost focus, but the plants were string enough to stay the course of growth even though they completed with them for nourishment. The plants stayed strong and held their ground until one of us noticed and took the time to clear the weeds away. That made thrive even more having weathered the intrusions. Suddenly we see flowers blooming. Not all at once, not all the same. Some brighter than others, some not so pretty, but all showing the power of what can be done with patience, support and just a little bit of hope. Just like nagivating through our life's struggles.

Change takes time and patience. We have all heard that. But it takes more. It takes care, commitment, tolerance of setbacks and the ability to take stock of the micro changes in the moment, and not being hyper-focused on the desired outcome. Find the beauty and wonder in every moment, no matter how small. Before you know it, your landscape will be different..... Just like James' garden :)

Filling the Void. This is often something we are trying to do but also quite often aren't aware we are doing it. We feel anxious, distracted, irritated, unable to put our finger on it, or quick to throw the blame on the most convenient or prominent situation ( or person) in our path at the moment. But This often comes from not what IS there.. But what ISNT. Something is missing. Maybe connection, purpose, validation or fulfilment. Sometimes trying to fix this by what IS there stops us from truly seeing what we NEED there.
Our amazing team member James has recognized this every time he walks into the AGTTC. That neglected planter space beside the door. But instead of simply 'filling it with stuff', he is taking the time to explore what is needed to fill that void. He has started with the foundation of rich garden soil. James knows that doing it right will mean that the little things he does ( planting seeds or tiny plants) will grow in time to be something that feeds all of us with a richer day as we walk past it. Thanks James.
