☀️ As the summer sun rolls in, so does an important reminder: protect your skin.
May is Melanoma & Skin Cancer Awareness Month — and with UV levels rising, now is the time to build sun-safe habits that last all season.
🧴 Apply (and reapply!) broad-spectrum SPF 30+
👒 Wear wide-brimmed hats and UV-protective clothing
🕶️ Don’t forget sunglasses with UV protection
⏰ Avoid peak sun between 11am–3pm
💪 Check your skin regularly for changes
Skin cancer is one of the most preventable forms of cancer — and early detection saves lives. Take care of your skin today so it can take care of you tomorrow. 🌤️

This Cancer Awareness Month, Community Cancer Care encourages everyone to take proactive steps to reduce their cancer risk. Did you know that about 4 in 10 cancer cases in Canada can be prevented through healthy lifestyle choices?

Here are some effective ways to lower your risk:

Live smoke-free: Avoiding to***co is the single most important thing you can do to reduce your cancer risk.

Be sun safe: Protect your skin and eyes from harmful UV rays by seeking shade, wearing protective clothing, and applying sunscreen.

Maintain a healthy body weight: Achieving and maintaining a healthy weight can significantly lower your risk of several types of cancer.

Eat well: Incorporate a variety of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and legumes into your diet to support overall health and reduce cancer risk.

Move more, sit less: Aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity each day and take regular breaks from prolonged sitting.

Limit alcohol consumption: Reducing alcohol intake can lower your risk of developing several types of cancer.

By making these healthy choices, you can take control of your health and reduce your cancer risk. Remember, small changes can lead to significant improvements over time. Let's work together to create a healthier future for all.
