Our volunteer firefighters aren’t just neighbours helping out—they are highly trained professionals who meet the exact same NFPA standards as full-time crews. They don’t just show up when it’s convenient; they:

• leave family dinners at a moment's notice

• jump out of bed for 3:00 AM calls

• step away from their "day jobs" the second the pager sounds

These individuals are the backbone of our fire services, protecting over 80% of Ontario’s geography. 🌲🚜

This , we’re looking past the gear at the people behind it. To the firefighters balancing careers, families, and the sudden ring of a pager: We see the dedication it takes to serve your community at 3:00 AM and still be at your desk by 9:00 AM.

Thank you for the commitment it takes to balance both roles. 👨‍🚒

🚨 CLEAR YOUR 911 SIGN – SECONDS MATTER 🚨

With all the snow we’ve been getting across Ontario, many driveway 911 signs are getting buried or blocked.

👉 If your sign can’t be seen from the road, emergency services may have trouble finding you when every second counts.

Take a quick minute to:
✔️ Clear snow away from your 911 sign
✔️ Make sure it’s visible from both directions
✔️ Check that numbers aren’t faded or damaged

This small step could make a life-saving difference for you, your family, or your neighbors.

Let’s help keep our community safe. ❤️

Huge appreciation to all road crews , snow plow operators, first responders and utility workers — the work you do during storms like these doesn’t go unnoticed. You’re out there in the cold, wind, and snow making sure the rest of us stay safe, and that deserves a lot of respect. ❄️👏

With the amount of snow we received, please remember to be patient with the snow plow drivers and crews working to clear the roads. They’re doing the best they can while dealing with dangerous conditions and limited visibility. No job is worth risking someone’s safety.

If you’re out driving, slow down, give plows space, and be patient. ❄️ Stay safe out there everyone. 🌨️

Especially after this huge snowfalll! Make sure you check all your exhaust vents making sure everything is clear of build up

Safety Notice: Residents are asked to clear snow and ice from all exterior exhaust vents, including those for furnaces, water heaters and dryers.

Heavy snow accumulation can block these vents, leading to a dangerous buildup of carbon monoxide inside your home.

City of Temiskaming Shores Fire Services advises you to ensure you have working carbon monoxide alarms on every level of your home. If your alarm sounds, leave the building immediately and call 911.

Have you heard of Ontario’s Slow Down, Move Over Law? Here’s what you should know:

When approaching an emergency vehicle with flashing red or red and blue lights, or a tow truck with flashing amber lights stopped on the side of the road, drivers are required by law to:

• slow down and proceed with caution
• if the road has two or more lanes and it’s safe to do so, move into the other lane to provide space. These measures help protect emergency response personnel.

Let’s all do our part to keep our first responders safe on our roads and highways!
