Pictou County Babies to Boosters

Pictou County Babies to Boosters A local non-profit group that is dedicated to keeping kids safe in the car! Our goal is to educate local parents on the importance of child passenger safety.

We do this by helping a parent select the appropriate child restraint for their child's age, height, weight and developmental stage. After doing this, we teach parents how to properly install their seat to help ensure their child rides safely on every ride. Babies to Boosters is a group of Child Restraint System Technicians trained with and representing CPSAC. CPSAC welcomes everyone to our events

and clinics and we strive to do our very best to ensure your child leaves safely. Please be advised that we cannot take any responsibility or liability for damages to your property or child while you are in attendance at our event. Should damage or injury occur, please ask to speak to an instructor or email us at [email protected]. There's no galactic battle over this one! There are ways we can keep kids safe in cars by:

πŸͺ Rear-facing to the weight and height limits of the young Jedi's convertible or all-in-one carseat
πŸͺ Using a harnessed forward-facing carseat to the maximum weight or height limits
πŸͺ Using either a high- or backless booster until they pass the 5-step test, which happens around ages 10-12 (yeah, I know that's a long time!)

What are you doing to keep your Jedis safe in your car?

Make sure your booster seat is adjusted properly. Not only is it more comfortable, it is important for the seat belt to be laying over the strongest bones to protect the occupant during a collision.

I see this error often, at seat checks but also just when I’m out and about, or in photos of peoples’ kids on social media.

Not all boosters have adjustable headrests/belt guides, but most do!

Remember, kids need a harness until at they are least 5 years old, 40 pounds, and able to sit correctly for the entire ride. http://csftl.org/harness-or-booster-when-to-make-the-switch/

Kids also need a booster much longer than people realizeβ€”until at LEAST 4’9” and until they pass the 5-step test (for most kids that’s age 10-12) https://csftl.org/the-five-step-test/

**THANK YOU to my fellow CPST’s for helping out by taking most of the booster photos used for this graphic!**
