We are proud to announce a $25,000 donation to the Scotsburn Recreation Club to support the construction of accessible washrooms at the new Trail Head Park pavilion. When volunteers from the Scotsburn Recreation Club met with our members to share their vision for rebuilding recreation opportunities following the loss of their community centre during Hurricane Fiona, we were incredibly impressed by their passion, dedication, and commitment to creating inclusive spaces for residents of all ages. It was clear to us right away that this was a project deserving of our support.

For more than 40 years, the Scotsburn Recreation Club has been helping build a stronger community through recreation spaces, family programming, walking trails, school partnerships, and events that bring people together. Their focus on accessibility and removing barriers aligns perfectly with the Kinsmen motto, “Serving the Community’s Greatest Need.” We are proud to help ensure the new pavilion will be welcoming and accessible for everyone in the community.

We would also like to recognize our valued partnership with Eastlink, as the majority of the funds we are able to give back to the community are raised through this partnership. Together, we are proud to support projects that strengthen communities across Pictou County and create a lasting impact for future generations.

On behalf of the Kinsmen, thank you to everyone who made the Benefit Dance for Tony Hessian such a huge success.

A special thank‑you to Summer Street Industries for providing the venue and staff. We are incredibly proud of our long‑standing partnership with Summer Street Industries—and nights like this truly show the strength of that relationship.

Huge thanks to the bands who donated their time and talent: Pistol Packin Papas, Double Jim and Tonic, and Steeltown. Your generosity and energy made the night unforgettable.

The people of Pictou County never fail to step up for those in need, and that’s exactly why we love being part of a community that cares—and why we enjoy helping make that happen.

Thank you as well to the Kinette Club of New Glasgow for volunteering and lending a helping hand throughout the event.

Together, you turned a great cause into an amazing night. 💙

Tony Hessian has always shown up for our community. As President of the Kinsmen Club of New Glasgow, he has dedicated countless hours helping people across Pictou County. Tony has helped raise tens of thousands of dollars through events like our Chicken BBQ, Pictou County Ribfest, countless beer gardens, and many other fundraisers and projects too numerous to mention. He also donates his time to the Kinsmen Baseball Program and the Pictou County Lightning Basketball Program.

Following a kidney transplant, Tony has suffered a stroke and now faces a long recovery. He’s unable to work, and his wife Cyndi is also facing job loss, creating significant financial strain.

Tony has always supported others — now it’s our turn to support him.

Please consider donating or sharing the GoFundMe link below. Every bit helps.
