This morning volunteers from across the county made food for the community fridge and what an amazing production it always is!

A chance to catch up with neighbours, swap family recipe favourites and bring communities closer helping those in need.

Together we made: Beef Burrito Bowls, Chock-Full-o-Veg Burrito Bowls, Sofrito, Basmati Rice and Beans, Granola Bake and more. A few ingredient packs along with new donations of cookies and pickles round out a very full fridge.

Thank you to our generous neighbours for their food donations, efforts and time on a Saturday morning.

The 644 Revitalization Network has started weekly fridge grocery top-ups! We're putting $100 week into the New Germany Community Fridge - check out our first top up!

We are excited to keep providing food for our community. Our community fridge follows the "Take What You Need, Leave What You Can" for our 24/7 fridge.

Anyone can visit the fridge to grab some food, or add to it. We always need more food, so if you can please consider dropping off some extra food when you can our community thanks you!

How curious? It seems a rabbit has been visited our Community's Fridge overnight! And left some naturally-coloured, pink, brown and orange, boiled eggs to spruce-up someone's table.

Soon too our gardens, farms, forests and public spaces will be springing back with equally brilliant signs of colour and life.

Community Roundtable Update:

This year's first will be held Thursday, April 9th from 9-11am during Community Café at 5311 Highway 10 in New Germany. So if you're free, please come downstairs (to our quiet meeting space) to share your ideas, talents and suggestions.

Program ideas, improvements, collab ideas, things you'd like to see happen in our community are all fair play.

If you can't make then, we'll be frequenting other community events in the region and are always open to a chat, meet and greet, DM or e-mail in between.

This past Saturday we put Chili + Coleslaw in the Community Fridge!

This was our fastest cook yet. Our dedicated team of volunteers was able to create three giant pots of chili for the fridge. We created a huge amount of food in only an hour!

Ground beef, tomatoes, black beans, sweet peppers, and a ton of good seasoning made for a delicious chili.

We can't wait to see you next month!

It is an incredible team. Come out the last saturday of the month from 9-12pm to help us make food for the community fridge.

Last Saturday of every month we gather as a group of volunteers to make meals for the community fridge! Some months it might be a familiar favourite like veggie barley soup, other times we attempt something new. Come learn with us, or just sit and keep us company while we chop!

Please join us Saturday, Feb. 28th from 9am until 12 noon at the Anglican Hall in New Germany to cook meals for the community fridge.

This month we're doing Crispy Sweet and Sour Pork or Tofu with rice and vegetables

Learn hands-on how its made: first, just like takeway, then just like mom - using healthier alternatives to this indulgence while also helping feed those in need.

Volunteers of all abilities, ages and cooking experience are welcome.

🍲🥔🍽 Hamburger Soup and Shepherd's pie! What a day to feel greatful for community. We made 21 pies, and 3 giant pots of soup. We rely on so many people to make these meals.

- The people to picks up groceries!
- The people who plan the recipes
- Those who donate food!!
- The chefs!
- The kind heart who makes all the volunteers coffee and snacks
- The folks who deliver meals to those in community who can't make it to the fridge
- The person who restocks the fridge outside throughout the week with extra meals we have.

Thank you for an amazing team. We hope you stay warm and safe through the storm.

We have the best volunteers in this community. People are working so hard to fill the fridge. Thank you so much! Check out these lentil & potato and lentil & veg soup a volunteer made. Word on the street is there will be pea soup, and turkey soup next week.

Keep it up folks! We love the initiative and the heart.
