Total Communication Environment (TCE) was incorporated as a non-profit organization in November 1979 and obtained charitable status in early 1980. TCE's mandate was to provide a home to a small group of children with multiple disabilities and special communication needs, licensed under Ministry of Health
TCE has grown and evolved, in direct response to the changing needs of the original group of
children and others in our community including individuals wit developmental disabilities. TCE was than licensed under the Ministry of Children and Community Social Services
TCE providing a variety of support to over 90 individuals with developmental, multiple disabilities and special communication needs. TCE Supports:
- RESIDENTIAL SUPPORTS - from minimal to 24 hours ,
7 days a week in a variety of settings including apartments for one person, townhouses for a few roommates to homes for individuals with complex and behavioural needs.
- COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION - through a variety of community activities, including educational, recreational, vocational, volunteer work, and employment
- RESPITE AND OUTREACH - respite to families supporting individuals at home and outreach to long term care homes in the Ottawa area, for adults wit developmental disabilities and communication needs.
