The BC Green Party have announced a set of strong protections for renters and committed to restarting the Community Housing Fund. The NDP cut that funding this year, resulting in the cancellation of 50 units of shovel-ready affordable/supportive housing at Front and Cedar which was being developed by Nelson CARES, and put the 48 affordable units being developed by Share Nelson on Fell St at risk as well.

Free Webinar on December 10, 2025 | 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm PST

Explore your rights and responsibilities under BC’s Human Rights Code in a free, 90-minute introductory session offered by the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner. Participants will learn how the Code applies in areas like housing, employment, and services and how to recognize illegal discrimination. This interactive workshop is open to landlords, tenants, employers, service providers, and everyday community members.

These free 90-minute introductory session will focus on B.C.’s Human Rights Code and explore your rights and responsibilities under the Code.

UPDATE: They have cancelled tomorrow's event either from fear of community backlash or fear that our snacks would be better than theirs! We've already got food prepared and will be dishing it out at Brandi's Place Feb 4 at 4pm. All are welcome!

Hallō Nelson's "community consultation" event was announced last week and sold out instantly, shutting out most members of the public.

Join NTU and our allies Feed The Streets from 4pm-5:30pm February 4th inside and outside the event to demand affordable, public housing instead of the proposed luxury condos (suddenly being rebranded and "affordable and community-driven" 🧐). Food will be provided for homeless neighbours and advocates alike!

There's an open house for a project that would build both affordable housing and recreation from 5-7pm at the prestige TONIGHT, Jan 27. If you want to support the principle of affordable housing we highly recommend you show up and show your vocal support for this project. This project isn't going to solve all of our problems, but it is in line with making them better. Last time we were at an open house for this event, the only vocal group was against affordable housing. So, please attend this meeting!
