Free Webinar on December 10, 2025 | 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm PST

Explore your rights and responsibilities under BC’s Human Rights Code in a free, 90-minute introductory session offered by the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner. Participants will learn how the Code applies in areas like housing, employment, and services and how to recognize illegal discrimination. This interactive workshop is open to landlords, tenants, employers, service providers, and everyday community members.

These free 90-minute introductory session will focus on B.C.’s Human Rights Code and explore your rights and responsibilities under the Code.

Hallō Nelson's "community consultation" event was announced last week and sold out instantly, shutting out most members of the public.

Join NTU and our allies Feed The Streets from 4pm-5:30pm February 4th inside and outside the event to demand affordable, public housing instead of the proposed luxury condos (suddenly being rebranded and "affordable and community-driven" 🧐). Food will be provided for homeless neighbours and advocates alike!

There's an open house for a project that would build both affordable housing and recreation from 5-7pm at the prestige TONIGHT, Jan 27. If you want to support the principle of affordable housing we highly recommend you show up and show your vocal support for this project. This project isn't going to solve all of our problems, but it is in line with making them better. Last time we were at an open house for this event, the only vocal group was against affordable housing. So, please attend this meeting!

The opioid epidemic has taken far too large a toll on our communities. A measured response and funding of services that actually help people is the bare minimum response that governments should be doing. Yet, they are not. BC Housing being the main body endowed with power to keep these services alive, has, unfortunately, cut funding for front-line service in both Castlegar and Nelson. Services in Nelson have shut their doors already, and the shutdown is set for later in April.
These decisions will worsen the marginalization that Tenants, Substance users, and the unhoused face. BC Housing needs to take these actions seriously lest we fall to the political pandering of BC United members who actively want to further stigmatize substance users.
Call your local politicians, send them emails, and go to their offices. Help hold decision-makers accountable.
