Very cool, Osprey Community Foundation

We are honoured to announce a $10,000 donation from Bennett Family Real Estate to the Dr. Amanda Asay Memorial Award, held by the Prince George Community Foundation. PG Community Foundation

Amanda was a lifelong athlete and proud member of Canada’s Women’s National Baseball Team, who tragically lost her life in a skiing accident in the Kootenays. Born and raised in Prince George, Amanda chose Nelson to be her home before her sudden passing in 2022. Her incredible accomplishments, including five World Cup medals and a historic Pan Am Games silver, left an enduring legacy. She is dearly missed by family, friends and teammates.

The Dr. Amanda Asay Memorial award supports two graduating students annually (in both the Prince George School District 57 and Nelson School District 8 ), honouring Amanda’s memory by investing in the next generation of athletes. Thank you to Chuck and Karen Bennett for their generous contribution to the fund, helping to keep Amanda's legacy alive.

Hello Baseball Families!

I hope this email finds you all well, and ready for summer! In case you don’t remember me; my name is Logan Wedgewood (Coach Wedge), I was the lead coach for the Baseball BC Grassroots camp in 2023 and 2024.

At the end of the 2024 Baseball BC Grassroots Camp at Queen Elizabeth Park, I was already looking forward to my next chance to come back for another round of summer camps in the Kootenays! After a year hiatus, I am excited to announce that I'll be back in Nelson, with my own baseball program, Coach Wedge Baseball, to lead a summer camp from August 10–14, for a fun-filled week of baseball at Queen Elizabeth Park.

Camp Details
⚾ Ages: 7–12
📅 Dates: August 10–14, 2026
🕘 Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM daily
📍 Location: Queen Elizabeth Park, Nelson, BC

My coaching philosophy is simple: keep the fun in baseball! Through engaging drills, team building exercises, and games, campers will develop all the skills needed to grow as an athlete and as a baseball player! For more information, and a sample summer camp plan, visit my website, coachwedge.com!

Early Bird Registration
Register before July 1 to receive the early bird rate of $375. After July 1, regular pricing of $400 will apply.

New This Year: Advanced Development Sessions for Ages 13-16
If your child is still playing baseball but has aged out of the summer camp, I'll also be offering a small-group, two-day development session for players aged 13-16.

These sessions will be shorter and capped at a limited number of participants to allow for more individualized coaching and feedback. The sessions will focus on advanced skill development, including hitting, fielding, throwing mechanics, game situations, and position-specific instruction.

If you're interested in learning more about the 13-16 age group sessions, please reply to this email and I'll send additional details.

If your child enjoyed camp in 2024, I'd love to see them back on the field this summer!

If you have any questions, feel free to reply to this email. I hope to see everyone on the field in August!

Thanks,

Logan Wedgewood
