IBEW First District representatives and IBEW 213 Business Manager, Jim Lofty, enjoyed a productive meeting with the Honourable Jennifer Whiteside, the Minister of Labour in BC. Together, we discussed potential solutions for the unsustainable demands on BC’s Labour Board and opportunities to provide well-paid union careers as part of our continued push for electrification in the resource sector.

Les représentants du Premier District de la FIOE et le gérant d’affaires Jim Lofty de la section locale 213 de la FIOE ont eu une réunion productive avec l’honorable Jennifer Whiteside, la ministre du Travail en C.-B. Ils ont discuté des solutions potentielles par rapport à des demandes insoutenables faites au conseil des relations du travail et des occasions d’offrir des carrières syndiquées bien payées pour continuer l’électrification dans le secteur des ressources.

MWG Apparel, AIL and TD Insurance Meloche Monnex, in conjunction with the IBEW First District, will be offering ten (10) scholarships in the amount of $2,000.00 each to all IBEW members and their families who are in studies pursuing a post-secondary diploma or degree.
An application must be submitted to our office no later than February 7th, 2025 and must be accompanied by a brief essay (done by the applicant) outlining the benefits of belonging to the IBEW.
A random draw will be held at the First District Office on February 14th, 2025, followed by an announcement identifying the ten winners.
