You aren’t walking this path alone. 🌿

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to remind ourselves that mental health is health. Whether you are navigating a difficult season, supporting a loved one through addiction, or simply trying to find your footing, your journey matters.

Breaking the stigma starts with a single conversation. Let’s look out for one another and remember that reaching out for help is a sign of incredible strength, not a weakness.

Social justice is not an abstract idea, it is about access, dignity, and fairness in real people’s lives.

The United Nations established World Day of Social Justice to highlight the need to address inequality, exclusion, and systemic barriers that disproportionately affect children, women, and marginalized communities.

At Olive Jean Foundation, social justice means advocating for support systems that work with families, not against them, and ensuring no one is left behind because of circumstance.

Justice is strongest when it is compassionate.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and is observed by Muslims worldwide.

During Ramadan, many Muslims fast from dawn to sunset and engage in increased prayer, reflection, and charitable giving. The observance emphasizes self-discipline, compassion, and community responsibility.

Because the Islamic calendar is lunar, the exact start and end dates of Ramadan depend on the sighting of the new moon and may vary by region.

Olive Jean Foundation acknowledges Ramadan as a significant religious observance for many families in the communities we serve.

Lunar New Year is celebrated by millions of families worldwide and marks a time of renewal, reflection, and new beginnings.

The Year of the Horse is traditionally associated with resilience, strength, and forward movement, values reflected in communities who continue to persevere through challenge and change.

At Olive Jean Foundation, we honour cultural diversity and recognize that belonging, tradition, and identity are essential to emotional wellbeing.

🧧 Wishing health, stability, and hope in the year ahead.

Valentine’s Day is a reminder that love extends beyond romance: it includes care, compassion, patience, and presence.

Healthy communities are built on connection: showing up for one another, offering support during hardship, and creating spaces where people feel safe and valued.

Today, we celebrate all forms of love: family, friendship, community, and self-worth, because connection is foundational to wellbeing.

Love is an action.

⚠️ URGENT DRUG POISONING ALERT: BELLEVILLE AREA

We are sharing an urgent warning regarding a dangerous substance circulating in our community described as "blue fentanyl". This substance has been linked to extreme sedation and unresponsiveness lasting over two hours.

How to stay safe:

Connect with our Coaching Sessions: If you are feeling overwhelmed or need a safe, non-judgmental space to talk about your use or safety plan, our sessions are a low-barrier option to help you stay grounded. We focus on "meeting you where you're at" without shame or pressure.

Never use alone: If you must use, call the National Overdose Response Service (NORS) at 1-888-688-6677 to stay on the line with someone while you use.

Carry Naloxone: It can save a life, though multiple doses may be required for this specific substance.

Start low and go slow: Use a very small test amount first.

Recognize the signs: Look for slow/no breathing, gurgling sounds, or blue/gray lips.

Call 911 immediately if someone is unresponsive. You are protected by the Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act when calling for help.

Please share this to help keep our neighbors safe.

Please be advised that a drug poisoinng alert has been issued after some reports in the Belleville area earlier this month.
If asnyone needs or would like to have Naloxone on hand, please stop by the health side of the Community Wellbeing Centre to pick up a kit.

The Olive Jean Foundation is deeply saddened by the recent shooting in British Columbia. We extend our sincere condolences to the victims, their families, and all members of the affected community.

Acts of violence have profound and lasting impacts, particularly on children, families, and vulnerable individuals. During times like these, we encourage compassion, reliance on verified information, and community support for those directly impacted.

Our thoughts remain with everyone affected as the community navigates this difficult time.

Women and girls remain underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics globally, despite evidence that diversity strengthens innovation and outcomes.

Supporting women and girls in science means supporting access to education, mentorship, and opportunity, especially for those facing systemic barriers.

At Olive Jean Foundation, we believe empowering girls with knowledge and confidence strengthens families and future generations.

Science advances when everyone is included.

World Cancer Day raises awareness about prevention, early detection, and equitable access to care.

Cancer affects millions of families worldwide, and outcomes improve significantly when treatment and support are accessible.

Today, we stand with those living with cancer, survivors, caregivers, and those remembering loved ones, because no one should face illness alone.

Health equity saves lives.
