Hobbitstee Wildlife Refuge Hobbitstee is an all-volunteer charitable organization that cares for sick, injured, orphaned or displaced native wildlife.

To make a donation please visit: www.hobbitstee.com Hobbitstee is an all-volunteer charitable organization that cares for sick, injured, orphaned or displaced native Ontario wildlife, with the ultimate goal of returning them to the wild. Hobbitstee is licensed with Canadian Wildlife Service and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources but does not receive funding from either regulatory agency. The center depends on the financial support of the community and volunteer service to assist with the day-to-day operations. We are located near Nanticoke, Haldimand, ON right on Lake Erie.

Another couple of hawks returned to life in the wild today.

One recovered from a broken wing and the other from serious flight feather damage.

Both flew like the wind…we wish them a happy life.

I could not be more excited to let you know that we have an amazing donor willing to match donations up to $20,000. We are so grateful for this.

This means that for every dollar you donate towards our Giving Tuesday Campaign we get two dollars. This is such great news.

As a small boots on the ground charity $40,000 (if we manage to raise the full amount) goes a long way towards our operating cost for 2027.

2026 has been a record year for wildlife intakes and we don't see this slowing down for 2027.

Last week the folks at the Canadian Tire store in Sarnia found themselves with a bird stuck in their store.

After numerous attempts and with the help and guidance of the people from Bluewater Centre for Raptor Rehabilitation the bird was caught and transferred to us at Hobbitstee.

The bird turned out to be an Eastern Whip-Poor-Whill. Look at his gorgeous long whispers and the white patches on the three outer feathers of his tail (which indicates it is a male).

Eastern Whip-Poor-Whill are a threatened species in Ontario. They have suffered a steep population decline related to habitat loss and environmental changes. They are nocturnal aerial insectivores and part of the Nightjar family.

It is very rare for us to have one come in for care and it was a pleasant surprise when I opened the box and realized who was in there.

After some rehydration therapy, some good food and some rest this Whip-Poor-Whill was banded and send on his way to continue migration.

It is with great sadness we let everyone know that our wonderful friend of 20 years Molly the donkey passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly this morning.

and I were at her side when it happened.

She spend her life being sweet (albeit a bit opinionated) and greeting everyone with much enthusiasm.

She will be so incredibly missed by all of us but her daughter and pasture mate Millie will miss her the most.

Please make sure to give Millie an extra pet if you happen to find yourself in our parking lot.

Such a pleasure helping little migratory birds such as this little black- throated green warbler to continue migration.

This little lad struck a window and hurt his wing, but luckily he was able to recover.

Many of them are not so lucky.

This little one and several other where send on their way today after a stay with us.
