Fresh produce shouldn't be out of reach for anyone in our community. The reality in Nanoose (and everywhere) is that for many households right now, the cost of fresh fruits and vegetables is simply unaffordable. The Good Food Box Program helps close that gap reliably.

Each month, NCS volunteers drive into Nanaimo to pick up boxes of fresh produce through Nanaimo Foodshare Society (all-star team and operation there), bringing them back to Nanoose Bay for distribution on our program days. For many of our participants, this is one of the only reliable ways they can access fresh, healthy food. It's a program that benefits everyone who receives a box, regardless of age, income, or circumstance. Beyond the nutrients, the fresh food is a point of connection, of storytelling, of community-building β€” talking about food is emotional and so very human!

Thanks to a generous $5,000 donation from the Rotary Club of Parksville, this part of our program is funded going into the autumn cooler months, helping us keep fresh produce boxes flowing to households across our community.

We're deeply grateful to Rotary for recognizing the importance of this work and helping us keep fresh food accessible for our neighbours who need it most.

Good Food Box is For everyone! Pay $15 for produce worth $25 - $30! Pick up at one of our depots across in Nanaimo, Parksville and Ladysmith. Delivery also available. Place your order today for a box next Thursday. Order link: https://nanaimogoodfoodbox.com/order

Thank you, Rotary Club of Parksville!

Thank you, Rotary Club of Parksville!

The Parksville Rotary Food Security Bottle Drop Campaign was a huge success, and today was cheque presentation day, with a total of $56,000 distributed to seven worthy organizations in our community:
* Forward House
* Oceanside Outreach Program
* Salvation Army
* Manna Homeless Society
* Oceanside Family Program
* Nanoose Community Services
* Arrowsmith Lodge β€” Cokely Manor, Seniors Program

Parksville Rotary expresses thanks to these organizations for the great work they do in our community and to Speedy Glass and our many supporters and donors who make this fundraiser possible.

The ever-special Nanoose Bay Art in the Garden returns again to Nanoose - check out the amazing lineup of artisans!
Did you know that organizers of Nanoose Bay Art in the Garden have donated over $100,000 to families in need through Nanoose Community Services over the 15 years? How's that for impact and the definition of neighbours helping neighbours?!
Our volunteers look forward to seeing everyone July 10 thru 12 as we lend a hand to organizers alongside the brilliant folks of Oceanside Special Olympics.

We are heartbroken to share the loss of our dear and beloved volunteer and food team coordinator, Jenny Ransom, who passed away on June 2nd.

Jenny was the kind of person who showed up reliably, warmly, with sleeves already rolled up and a great sense of humour. Over the years she gave so much of herself to this community, and Nanoose Community Services was lucky to be one of the places she chose to put her energy and her heart.

She is so deeply missed by our family of volunteers and participants, and everyone whose life she made better.

In lieu of flowers, Jenny's family welcomes donations in her memory to the causes she loved, including NCS. If you'd like to honour her this way, you can find the tribute page here:

To Jenny, we miss you and promised to continue to show up for those in need just like you have for years. ❀️

Please help us continue mom's/Jenny's passion her community. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to her preferred charities.

πŸŽ„βœ¨ Elf Trees Are All Across Nanoose! βœ¨πŸŽ„

Have you spotted an Elf Tree around town yet? These joyful little trees are spreading joy in shops and community spaces all across Nanoose β€” each one filled with wish tags from our very own neighbours. πŸ’›

A warm reminder that gifts are due back in 10 days β€” by December 10th. If you’ve already picked up a tag, thank you for helping spread a little neighbourly joy. Every gift you give stays right here in Nanoose, supporting local families and brightening homes in our own community.

And if shopping isn’t your thing, that’s okay β€” we’re gratefully accepting donations to the NCS Elf Project as well.

Click the link to donate now: https://give-can.keela.co/elf-project-2025

Your contributions bring comfort, dignity, and holiday magic to fellow community members. Together, let’s fill Nanoose with kindness, connection, and the simple joy of caring for one another. 🎁✨

Many thanks to our Elf Tree hosts!
