The Dover Community Association (DCA) has added the Bowers District *Green Thumb Nursery* property to our area. Until they start to develop and residences become a part of that piece of land, we will work towards a future association that will come out of those new homes. In the meantime, some community leadership will help build it. Become a part of it.

In the delivery model we have adopted in Nanaimo and beyond, many times we wonder what happened to our package? A note to all is to make sure your address is visible.

Now imagine getting an email where A PACKAGE is ready to be garbaged because it is not deliverable even though the address is the right and a note saying to leave at door is visible, It was returned to LOOMIS. Lucky for the owner of that package, Loomis noted DOVER COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION on the package and contacted me by email. .. . now for the rest of the story.

BEYOND - Dover Community Association goes well beyond our normal responsibilies to our neighbourhood and it's members.

A few days ago, the [email protected] got an email saying they had a DELIVERY for us from LOOMIS. Naturally spam came to mind but strangly I followed through.

I went to Loomis where had a package that would be returned for non-delivery if I did not respond and pick it up. I did that this morning. It was an EXPENSIVE order that was marked as unreturnable if I had not gotten it.

Loomis did not ask for ID but got a rough signature and my name. I could have given a phone name.

I then went buy the house (which was correct) and gave it to the person who ordered it.

It had the NAME of the couple, the CORRECT address, but in the bottom it said DOVER COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION in large letters.

I expect that LOOMIS tried to deliver it (said to leave at door) and because nobody was home, they rejected delivery.

As a former AMAZON delivery person, I ran on instinct and everything came out good...

THURSDAY WALKABOUT

Thursday, March 27, 2025, 2pm - 3:30pm

The City of Nanaimo, the RCMP, and a Student have set up a Dover neighbourhood Survey, which many of you have completed and the forms have been submitted.

A part of this project was to have a walkabout in our neighbourhood. Due to size, we have set the first one up in the Southwestern area. I have plans to continue with each of the other the quadrants.

I wish to thank those who attended the rained out event and hope to see you and more next Thursday.

-We will be starting at the 7-11 on Dover Road, walking down uplands towards the alley into the high school, west along Hammond Bay then down Calinda onto Applecross, and then potentially over to the skate park on Dover then back to the 7-11.

If anyone has other concerns, such as Lewis Park 🙂 let me know.
See you at 2pm (if you have not received the survey and wish to complete it, talk to me at the walkabout.)
