Nanaimo Lions is turning 80! ๐Ÿฆโœจ
Join us in celebrating 80th years of service to the community. We are putting out a call to all of the groups, organizations, non-profits, support groups and clubs that have received support from the Nanaimo Lions over the years, to join us in "Celebrating Community"!

We are holding an event August 22 at Maffeo Sutton Park, where groups can FREE OF CHARGE set up a display to share the great work that they do in the community.

โ€ข Time: 10 am โ€“ 2 pm (set up @ 8:30am)

Nanaimo Lions have 3 plaque spaces available in the Lions Pavilion at Maffeo Sutton Park.

In 2001, the Nanaimo Lions funded the building of the Lions Pavilion at the Maffeo Sutton Park.

This completed the second of two major projects in Maffeo Sutton Park by Nanaimo Lions. Prior to the Lions Pavilion project, the Nanaimo Lions Club built the โ€œLions Great Bridgeโ€ over the Millstone connecting the foreshore walkway. To fund that project inscribed bricks were sold and placed in the retaining walls on both sides of the bridge. The combined projects represent over a million dollars cost to complete these two projects. The inscribed bricks and the brass plaques capture an era of Nanaimoโ€™s community minded people and businesses in the 80โ€™s, 90โ€™s and 2000โ€™s.

There are 3 plaque spaces left at the Pavilion. The cost per plaque is $300 with a cheque made out to Nanaimo Lions Club.

The inscriptions can be varied from โ€œin memory ofโ€ to a business or just a personal name. (see photoโ€™s)

Happy New Year everyone. We have now concluded the first half of the Nanaimo Lions Club Free Skate program with an excellent turnout for both the pre-Christmas event and the pre-New Year's event, the latter being part of the city's Winter Wonderland celebration. Our Dec 22nd event had a record setting number of participants, and it was very generously supported by treats from Save-on-Foods. The New Year's event benefited from a very well decorated lobby and ice area of the arena.
