💙 Our Eastern Shore Community Fridge Needs Your Help 💙

‼️We are almost out of funding‼️

The Eastern Shore Community Fridge was created with one simple goal: to help neighbours support neighbours.

This fridge is available 24/7 for anyone who needs a little extra food, no questions asked, no judgment, and no barriers. It has already become an important source of support for individuals and families in our community who are facing rising grocery costs, transportation challenges, and difficult times.

The initial support that helped us launch the fridge is nearly gone, and we urgently need sponsors to help keep it stocked with fresh food, pantry items, and everyday essentials.

We are asking local businesses, organizations, families, and community members to consider helping in any way they can.

You can support the Community Fridge by:

🥫 Sponsoring a weekly or monthly grocery fill
💙 Making a one-time or monthly donation
🥕 Donating fresh produce, bread, eggs, milk, pantry items, hygiene products, or cleaning supplies
🤝 Partnering with us as a local business or community group
📣 Sharing this post to help us reach more people

Even a small contribution can make a real difference. A bag of groceries, a $25 donation, or a monthly commitment helps ensure that someone in our community can open that fridge and find something they need.

This project belongs to all of us. It is a reflection of the care, generosity, and community spirit that makes the Eastern Shore so special.

If you or your business would like to sponsor or donate, please message us directly. We would be so grateful for your support.

💙 Take what you need. Leave what you can. Share with kindness.💙

This Earth Day, we have some not-so-fun facts for you. For starters, did you know almost 50% of all food in Canada is wasted every year? And that a majority of that food waste is actually safe, consumable food?

The Warehouse team at Feed Nova Scotia, along with our many, amazing volunteers work to divert millions of pounds of safe, consumable food from landfills each year. Work like this not only helps to fuel communities across the province, but also helps to reduce the amount of food that ends up in landfills. Given that a majority of the materials in landfills are organic matter, we think this is a pretty big win!

From the amount of greenhouse gases produced during production activities to the methane released during decomposition, food waste has a direct and negative impact on our planet. At Feed Nova Scotia, we will keep partnering with farmers, grocery stores, and communities to ensure we can continue working to reduce food waste, both for our people and our planet 💙
