Our board was given some exciting news a few months ago - the Town of Mossbank admin staff nominated us for an award through Sask Parks and Rec, and we won! So their film crew came out and spent the day with a few of us (it was during harvest so most of us were busy in the field). They asked all about our history and purpose, and got some great footage of local kids enjoying Mossbank’s recreation areas.

We want to thank everyone who helped out with this. Thanks so much to Taysha for the thoughtful nomination. And to the staff, parents and kids from the school and daycare - there was a lot of organizing to allow so many kids to be involved! We appreciate your time. And thank you to the Petersen harvest crew for welcoming the unexpected drone visit - it worked out perfectly being so close to town, so we sure appreciate your willingness to be on camera. The film crew and SPRA reps were great to work with, and they enjoyed learning about all the parks and rec areas in and around town. We really do have some great amenities here, and our FIF board members are so happy to be able to contribute to them.

We owe our biggest thank you to all of the volunteers and organizers for the farming process (especially those who pitch in year after year). Your time and energy is what makes the whole project possible. And looking back, we owe a thank you to the community members who told us about other small towns doing this - and those towns who taught us so much when we got started. We are now enjoying paying that forward as more nearby towns are creating similar groups. It’s pretty awesome when good things are contagious and lots of people benefit from them.

Finally, we want to share that the $1000 prize for this award is going toward the rink’s new ice plant project. Thank you everyone for your kind and encouraging words for our board today, and ever since we began. ❤️🌾

Good morning everyone!!! Thank you so much for all of your support voting for our rink’s ice plant fundraising project so far!

We have had some questions about voting. Quite a few people assumed that this was a “vote every day” thing like some other contests are, but this is different - it is a one-time vote, per person, using your email address. The rules are visible online via a link from the BASF voting page, but here’s a screenshot to save time.

The main points are: voting is open to all Canadians that are legal age of majority in their province. Each individual can submit a total of one vote per province (there are four provinces involved). Duplicate votes will be void. Voting is online from April 1-15, winners announced on the 30th. Votes and nominations can be disqualified if they’re found to be exceeding voting limits in any way. Votes and voters must be verifiable at any time.

So the best thing we can do is continue sharing the information and get more people voting!! Thank you again for all your support so far.

We have some exciting news to share!

Our Farm it Forward board has entered into the “Growing Home with BASF” competition for a chance to win $25,000 towards funding a repaired/replaced artificial ice plant at the Mossbank Centennial Arena. This is an essential and expensive project.

We have been selected as one of the 3 finalists in Saskatchewan (out of 250 entries!). So now we need your votes to win the grand prize!!

This past growing year South Country Equipment played a vital role in our project.
Thank you to Gerry McKecknie and the team at SCE for donating an X9 combine to take our crop off. We appreciate all of the support we receive from our local businesses and farmers, this doesn’t happen without them.
